This thread is inspired by a thread on the resorts board about the kindness of the AKL lost and found....

Have any of you ever lost something and had it turn up much later or in a really weird spot?

Two experiences I had with that for example was....In college I somehow lost my wallet and figured it must have been in the student center...I checked everywhere and called lost and found several times before I gave up and no lie I received a call over a year later saying that student center found my wallet!!! I could not believe it and everything was still in there...but they weren't sure who found it or where.

One experience that was even weirder and very upsetting was loosing my license when I was in Las Vegas. I realized I lost it on the day we were leaving, a few hours before we had to leave the hotel. I was so upset bc airlines are so strict now that I was afraid I would not be able to fly home...I had to file a report with hotel security and they wrote out an official form that I had lost it and I was told to show that to airport security. I never found it before I left. At the airport I realized I still had my old driver's license in an extra purse I brought, the license that was returned in the wallet I mentioned before. So I ended up using that and I got through security fine. I was such a nervous reck that day that when I got on the plane I started laughing...the license I used at the airport was expired and I didn't even think of it!! However I got a call 2 days later from security...they said they found my license along with some shirts. That was very odd bc we didn't leave any shirts behind at all..then they mentioned the room # they found it in...they found my license in the room next to us!! And apparently those people left a few shirts behind. It was really odd. I still do not know how it ended up there! I never want to loose my license on vacation ever again!!!!

first a nod to the AK cast members..husband somehow lost his wallet there in 2001..we noticed it a few min later and started the hunt..within 5 min someone had the wallet in hand at the AK main desk..a cast member in one of the stores found it and turned it in!

FF to last weekend..husband was getting ready for work..he left..and a few min later car came roaring back up the drive..he didn't have his wallet..we looked in all the usual spots..then he had to leave without it or he would have been late..we had been at Walmart the day before so I called there right away..nothing..I turned the house upside down..nothing..I went to his workplace and looked everywhere in his car..nothing...from there went to the bank and placed a cancel on his bank card..just in case...came home and decided to do laundry and put house back in order..I picked up a towel he had left on the bathroom floor (we have a claw foot tub) and for some reason I figured I would just use the towel and 'dust' under the tub..I spotted something against the wall under the tub...guess what?..his wallet...now never in a million years would I have looked under there..lol!
Apparently he had his jeans draped over the tub for some reason..the wallet must have fallen out of the upside down pocket ..and someone must have just not seen it and kicked it under there somehow...
So though he had the inconvenience of having to file for a new bank card...nothing else had to be replaced!..alls well that ends well!~

OK, here is a really weird one. My DD had a locket with our photos in it. She was only six but it was a Christmas present and itwas very special to her. One day the chain must have broken because she noticed as she was getting ready for bed that it was gone! We searched everywhere - house, cars, driveway and lawn, school, parking lots - you name it, we looked there. We spent months thinking it would show up eventually but it never did. Fast forward about a year and a half, a crew of guys is cutting down a 75 year old tree in the backyard which had died. In the very top of the tree, they find a really large (abandoned) bird's nest. The foreman pulls it out of the tree to show my DD who has been sitting on our deck watching them work. YOU GUESSED IT...........the locket was tucked inside the bird's nest! She must have dropped it outside and a bird who liked shiny things picked it up. How amazing is it that - given where it ended up - that it was ever found? :Pinkbounc

Lost my high school ring on a camping trip one summer. The following summer I got a call from a lady who said her son was snorkeling in the lake at a camp ground and found my high school ring! The bottom of that lake was gravel (man made and very large) and I can't believe over a year later he found it. The other thing was that all the ring had was my initials inside the band and the mom had been nice enough to call the high school and ask for anyone who graduated the year that was on the ring with those initials and they gave her my name. She tracked me down from there. I was thrilled to get it back and thought that mom was so nice to go to the trouble to find me.

My mom once lost the left earring of her favorite pair, she'd had them for over 20 years and lost them in her car. We looked everywhere in that car, searched high and low and couldn't find them so we figured it must have fallen out the window while she was driving. She was bummed, but went out and got a new pair. Fast forward 2 years and countless carwashes and vacuums later( and her car was now my car)and I looked down one day and there was her earring!! Still not sure where it had been hiding, but boy was she happy to find it.

I should have posted this when we got back but I completely forgot. When we were at Downtown Disney 10/30/2005 we gound a camera phone on a table outside of Earl of Sandwich. (Not sure what kind or the provider.) We gave it to the host inside the restaurant. So if this is you, that is where your phone is.
