Can anybody that is doing/or has tried WW's tell me if it worked for you. I am doing WW's online. I haven't cheated since I started. I vary my points, and I exercise. Yet I am losing weight very slowly. Over the last four weeks I have lost 2lbs, when I was following my own programme I was losing on average two pounds per week. I am wondering whether the amount of food that is required is too much for me. When I first started I said to DH that I would never lose weight with all the food that I was eating! I somehow hoped that I was wrong!

My mother started seriouly last Dec. She has been on many diet since I was little and she quit smoking back in 1973. Since last Dec. with regular not
overdoing kind of exercise. She walks on her threadmill 1/2hr a day-5 days
a week. She has lost 75 lbs. She in a size 14.

Thanks muffy. That's great that your mom has had such a great success! At the rate that I'm going I'll have lost less than 20 opounds in the same amount of time! :confused3

I was on it and lost 25-30 pounds and made lifetime. DW was on it and lost over 100 and made lifetime. It does work but there are times when the losses seem to go a little slow and then there was a period that they went off quickly. As long as you follow the points or core items, it will start coming off.

I lost 50 lbs total, over about 2 1/2 years, so it did go slowly, but I've been maintaining for about 10 months now.

It does seem that at times you hit a plateau, then other times the losses come more easily, but if you just stick with it over time, you will probably see good results.

Good luck! :sunny:

I've lost 155.2 pounds on WW. It took me two and a half years and I've been lifetime now for four months. I averaged between 1 and 2 pounds a week. I did have some "big" weeks but I also had weeks that I gained. Without sounding like a commercial for WW, it is a lifestyle and not a diet. I probably could have lost the weight faster on a different program but with WW I've learned how to maintain my weight loss for the rest of my life.

You didn't mention drinking water. Make sure that you are drinking water - it's really important. At this point, if you were going to meetings I would say talk to your leader. I don't know how that works online. My leader would look at my tracker and see if I was eating too much of something. Processed sugar is a problem for me as well as carbs. Is there a way of doing that online?

Hi Catherine,

I have lost a 62 lbs with WW. It went fairly fast for me, but my DM is doing WW and it is very slow for her. Everyone is different. Have you tried Core? With Core you eat according to your comfort level instead of by counting points. You may find that suits your body better. But even if its slow, its progress in the right direction. The slower the weightloss the more likely you will keep it off in the long run. Good luck!

Sunny

Are you eating all your extra points for the week? That can really slow you down. I tend to do best when I eat the min. amt of points for my weight, and if I'm exercising for an hour or more a day, I can add a couple of points. Otherwise I just don't lose. I also know a person who won't lose unless she eats all the points-so it totally depends on your body and how it works. Don't get discouraged, you may have to play around with the points a little, or try core as someone else suggested.

Thanks everyone for your support and suggestions. I haven't tried core, so I might give that a go, if I still lose slowly over the next couple of weeks. I will also try drinking more water! Some weeks I do really well getting all my water in and other weeks I have caffeine free diet coke.

catherine, haven't you already lost a lot of weight? Maybe your need to lose this time is much smaller, so the pace is slower?

I lost ALL my weight with the help of WW online and the WISH board! :teeth:

Definately DRINK that water!! Diet coke is a 'treat'. Water is a must-have. ;)

Thanks KimRaye! :goodvibes I did lose quite a bit of weight. However last year because of illness and injury I gained around fifty pounds! That's why this time I decided to try WW's. I figured if I tried a different approach then perhaps the same thing wouldn't happen again. However I didn't expect the weight loss to be quite so slow! :confused3 I'm not looking for a big weight loss every week, but an average of one to two pounds a week would be nice! :) Anyway I am drinking lots of water now, so hopefully that's what the problem was. I'm hoping to see the scale go down at my next WI. If it doesn't I'm going to try doing core and see if that works better for me!

I thought so catherine! ;) You've done this before, you'll do it again! I KNOW it! And while I could never do Core, it might be just what you need! :sunny:

What plan of your own did you use before? Every Body IS different, as I've been reading tonight. Some things posted here I could NEVER do, and others I totally agree with - or my body does anyway! LOL

The key is a Life plan! Not a so-called 'diet'. We ALL know how temporary the word 'diet' is.

Onward and Downward catherine! Like I said, I KNOW you can do this! :sunny:

Hi Catherine! WW is designed such that you lose weight slowly (average of 1-2 lbs. a week)-- that means there will be stretches where it seems like you are only losing tenths of a lb, but other weeks, you will lose 3-4 lbs (although, these get fewer and fewer as you lose more weight :-)). The disadvantage is a lot of people who want to lose weight fast get unmotivated and quit. The good thing is that in all of the studies of all of the different types of diets, WW is the one where the most people were able to keep their weight off-- the reason is that it is adaptable-- it is not a "diet" that you just stop when you lose all of the weight.

Here are some ideas for you:
1. Just wait-- if you had already been losing weight, you may be on a plateau, which happens to everyone in every diet (as long as they are not starving themselves)-- it is the body's way of adapting to weight loss. Usually, a plateau will lift in about 3-4 weeks.

2. You mention that you workout-- do you eat any of your exercise points? If not, you may want to try eating your exercise points-- your body needs those calories you work off to function-- sometimes your body will hold on to all its god if it doesn't think the food is being replaced. If you are not hungry for more food, try having a protein bar after your workout (pria ones taste good, and are only 2 pts.-- not the low carb version-- those taste bad as far as I'm concerned), or add a cup of gatorade to your water during your workout-- 1pt per cup, and it will also replace electrolytes as you workout.

3. Try reducing your white carbs (choose brown rice instead of white, or a yam instead of a white potato)-- that helps me sometimes, and I usually have more, longer-lasting energy.

4. Try switching to the Core plan instead of flexpoints for a couple weeks-- I can't stay on this program longterm because I get bored of the same foods, but it is great for a couple of weeks, and since you are eating differently it helps to shake things up which can get you out of the plateau.

5. Step up your workouts a notch-- every 3 months or so, you are supposed to revise your workouts (I am notoriously bad at doing this when I find something I like :-))-- this usually jumpstarts your metabolism.

I can say that of everything I've tried, WW is what works the best because it is essentially, balanced, normal eating of all food groups! It has worked for friends who were quite overweight, it has worked for me (I am moderately overweight), and it is working for a friend who is trying to lose only 5 lbs! Good luck!!

I've lost 40 lbs. on WW and am in a slump, but it does work! I write down everything I eat and drink lots and lots of water. About 50-80 oz. a day.

Have you had thyroid and a uterin ultrasound? Hypo-thyroidism and Poly Cystic Ovarian Syntrome are related to slow weight loss.

i've lost 53 pounds on weight watchers, and i still need to lose 60 more. :) but it is working for me, so far.

for me the big things that make the difference are: making sure i eat my activity points and using my 35 weekly points up in one or two big meals. usually i save my 35 points and then on the weekend dh and i will go out and have a "normal" restaurant meal. no dessert or appetizers or anything, but sometimes i'll have a burger - stuff like that. the weeks i eat all my 35 extra points in one day are the weeks i lose the most.

however, someone in my ww group has tried that and it doesn't work for her, so i think everyone is different.

I started WW last Saturday and so far, I've lost 4 lbs. I only had 20 lbs to lose. I've only exercised once this week because I've been sick. I did "eat" the points and I have not been eating the bonus points. That just seems like too much food for me. I'm still avoiding sugar and "whites." Good luck!
