Losing weight for WDW?

Hey this isn't really a WDW question but is anyone else's motivation for losing weight (besides the obvious - health) a trip to WDW? We go in May 2007 and I want to be down 25 - 30 lbs. I was going to Weight Watchers (which I love the plan & think its probably the healthiest IMO) & then I thought to myself, "I'm paying $12/week to WW - how about I take that $12 and put it towards our WDW trip. If I lose weight in any particular week I put $20 in my savings instead of $12."

I know I'm missing the meetings but it works for me - what great motivation. I've done WW after each of my children (3) so I know the plan & I won't be pg again! I started this the first of July so far I have - $80 saved - doesn't sound like much but we don't leave until May. Anyway I'm excited and its really keeping me motivated - hopefully it will continue to do so. :thumbsup2

We're excited about WL in May 2007 - our first stay at a deluxe! :cool1:

What a great idea! I need to lose 20-30lbs also ... Maybe I'll try that!

:sunny:

I like WW too. I use it every few years to shed the ten pounds I gain. I have about a dozen girlfriends, and WW has worked best consistantly for the majority of them.

Anyway, I have until October to lose the five I intend to gain cruising......wish me luck, cause I haven't made much progress yet....I'm not doing WW for these few pounds, but they might see me in November.

I wish I was as motivated as you guys! I would like to lose 10 pounds before WDW, especially BB. I have been on WW before and it is a good program, if you can stick to it and stay motivated. I don't blame you for saving your money for your vacation. I think you should use some of it to buy a Mickey ice cream, you will deserve it! :thumbsup2

I'll chat with you. We go in 50 days and I want to loose 10 more lbs. I did Jenny Craig years ago (I'm a lifetime member :sad2: ) Glad I did that 15yrs ago. Since having the kids I had to go back a time or 2. I never stick to it very well due to the cost. I know I can pay half the cost by doing Lean Cuisine etc.

I just had my last baby (10 months ago..not very 'just' I guess). I lost all my baby weight plus 10lbs so I feel good about that.

I've been tempted to go back to JC but just don';t want to justify the $$$. I usually do my own thing there anyway. I only buy some of the dinners to add more variety to the grocry store dinners.

We can post every day what we did activity wise :yay: , things we did good on :thumbsup2 , resisting temptation :goodvibes , admitting we we caved into temptation :guilty: , looking for suport :cheer2: or whatever.

I have to pat myself on the back for yesterday. DH stopped for Wendy's and I declined. It took me a while to decline but I did it. I did have Chick-fil-a for lunch but only the sandwich..no fries so that was good.

LEt me know if you want to move to the WISH board.

Oh I just saw you'll be doing WL.. We are DVC at the Villas there. We just love it there ...although all WDW hotels are great. We spent several hrs one day on a long trip just sitting in the lobby in the big chairs listening to the great music.

Hi! OMG, Our stories are so similar that I had to post. We are also going to WDW in May 2007, but for our first trip ever! I also have three kids and am having NO more. I have DD5, DD3, and DS 9 months so the ages are pretty close except I had girl, girl, boy! And we are also staying at a deluxe for the first time at BWV and I am so excited. It would be really crazy if we were going the same week!

I am starting weight loss mode. I have about 60 pounds to lose before we go. This is due in part to the fact that I gain 70 pounds every time I am pregnant no matter how I eat! I lost about 50 each timeand had about 20 leftover at the start of each new pregnancy, hence the 60 pounds!!

I know that I can do it, after DD#2, I put my mind to it and lost 17 pounds in just 3 weeks! Of course then we went to Disneyland for a week and sadly I never got back on track!

Let's make it so that we check in with each other. I know I should do it for myself but I find it much easier to be held accountable by someone else ;)

And I really really want to look good in my WDW pictures with my kids, defintely not like I do now. I am still nursing so I have to be careful, but a diabetic diet seems to work well for me. Well I am off to church, but I will post more later.

Well I've been doing WW for 5 weeks now. I've also done it before in the past. But I've decided to stick with the meetings this time and see if I'm more successful. I also hate the idea of paying the money weekly. But I'm trying to think of it in a good way. I've been averaging a little over 1lb a week and so by the time we go on our next trip in January '07, about 20 weeks, I'm hoping to have lost 20 more lbs. Wanting to look good in this trip's pictures is keeping me pretty motivated.

Good luck to everyone else who is also struggling. We can do it. My only negative is I hope I don't lose all this weight and then decide to have another baby. DD #2 is 18 months. So right around January would be when I would. But for now it's not in the plans so hopefully I'll remain thin!!!!!!1

I wanted to lose 20# before our trip in one month. I've only lost about 12, but hopefully I lose a few more in the next few weeks. I'm not really "on a diet" or on WW I'm just watching what I eat and eating more fiber. I have a high (about 5 grams) fiber cereal in the a.m. usually with dried blueberries (from Sams Club-yummy!) or bananas. And for snack I no longer have cookies or potato chips, but something better for me like baby carrots or high fiber bread (Milton's) with peanut butter. I'm trying not to eat too many empty calories.

Now that we are 4 weeks (today) away from going, I'll be stepping up on my walking every night (July was just unseasonably hot this year-too hot to walk even at night) with my mom and DD6. Also, I'm going to go back to something I did in June 2002, before that trip. If I want dessert at night I have sugar free jello with a little Cool Whip (Low fat) or Reddi whip on it. Feels a little decadent, but so few calories.

Besides looking thinner in our WDW pictures (and of course being healthier) my other motivation is that I bought some of my vacations clothes over the last few months, 1 size smaller than I normally wear. So, if I want to wear my new clothes, I'll have to fit in them. If I don't, I can still return them, as they still have the tags on them.

Kinda off topic... We try to get "used to" all the walking at WDW by parking WAAAAAY out at the end of all the parking lots locally. It also saves gas driving around looking for a closer spot. Since walking helps you lose weight its something to consider, a good motivation to park and walk. Noone likes the "jellylegs" feeling after 3 numb days at WDW. The extra walking helps prepare you, and helps your diet. Win win.

it also saves gas, because you just pull in and grab the first spot on the outer edge, (try to imagine Walmarts parking lot here) and gas is NOT cheap here. (the third win)

I'll have to try that one in March/April before our trip. Right now it is way too hot to even think of doing that. We hardly go out during the daylight hours because the car seats get unbearably hot and I hate sticking the kids in them in hot cars. But it is a perfect idea for springtime here! Thanks

My trip to WDW is so my inspiration. I went last March and my feet were aching not long into the first day. The rest of me was fine, but my feet were hurting from hauling my big butt around.

I'm not counting my Oct trip (see sig) because I'm only going to be going to Epcot, so my next real trip is next May. By then I hope to lose about 50 - 60 lbs (trust me, I have it to lose).

I've done WW before and lost about 30 lbs. I'm not doing it now (because I don't have the extra money), but I am exercising. I just started this week. The exercise is a lot easier to me than watching what I eat. But I'm trying to tell myself, as I pass McD's "I can have french fries in Disney World!"

We're going the the 12th to the 19th - taking DS out of school for one week. We wanted to go for longer but I don't like taking him out for one week let alone longer.

I was nursing my DD1 until May of this year - she literally stopped on her 1st birthday - one feeding on her b-day and thats been it. I tried WW last fall while I was nursing my huge appetite took away any benefit but then again DD would have been 5 months old when milk was her major source of nutrients. So my body was probably saying "not now"!

DisFam95: We're staying in a 1 bedroom villa and I am so looking forward to it. I ordered the dvd for more info on DVC but I haven't had the time to watch it yet! I've always wanted to stay at WL but DH didn't think he'd like the theme :confused3 . So we booked Poly (DH didn't like the theme), then we booked CSR, the CR (still wouldn't mind staying here) and then we went away for a shopping weekend w/the kids and stayed in a suite. We then decided that we needed a bigger room for WDW. So I looked at the villas and with the younger kids VWL seemed logical so close to MK although BCV really was calling to me. The w/d will be a blessing!

Well anyway I'm going to try to get walking sometime today. I've got the diet part down now I need to get moving. I know its the oldest excuse in the book it is so true for me - I just have a difficult time finding the time. I'm a stay at home mom (after 2nd child) w/ a DH who works and works. No me time. Once DS goes back to school maybe during DD's naptime I can put in an exercise tape and DD3 and I can work out together. I used to be an avid runner and I see runners out everyday and I say to myself "I wish that was me" but I need to start slowly. I do want to look good and thinner but the most important part for me is showing my children a healthy lifestyle (especially my DDs). I want to teach them that being healthy is important not being a stick like all the images on tv/movies portray.

I now I'm the OP but if anyone wants to move this thread anywhere else let me know - I am not computer savvy at all. I think it would be great if all us posted messages whenever we can - I'm sure everybody's busy but it would be nice to check in w/each other when we can.

Have a good day!

I'm all for posting messages for all of us to support each other in our quest to loose weight. Last year, I lost 68lbs in 9months by taking Meridia and working my butt off on the exerise bike and not eating very much at a time( 6 small meals vs 3 large) Then I got pregnant w/ DD3mo(child number 3) and gained 60 lbs (40 of which I still have to loose) I too tend to gain an enormous amount of weight when pregnant. Right now with nursing and all I can't take the Meridia, but I know how to excerise and eat right, now all I need is the consistant motivation. I have to things that need to be my motivation, 1. the fact that most of my winter clothes are two sizes too small and 2. Our trip to WDW the first week of December. Good luck to all....We can do it!!

'scribing.

I go the second week of December. (have a wedding to attend in WPB, so should be double motivation)

I need to lose about 30 - 40 lbs...I know I will not lose that for my December trip but I would like to try to lose about 20.

I have started with a modified WW program...I lost weight this way before and I base my diet on the meals I was eating then and I also joined Curves...I LOVE it.

Being I am an internet junkie, I have also joined the Curves boards...and started a "challenge" that was posted on the boards to drink at least 64 oz of water everyday...I never seem to drink enough H2O but now I am...and IFEELBETTERALREADY...thats my screen name on that board but it's true!!!

My advice: Drink water...but drink it early in the day so you don't get up alot during the night...

Good luck to all!

I am trying to get back into a few pairs of shorts that seem to have um..shrunk :rotfl: ..on me. I have tried WW in the past...never could stick with it for long...went to curves when i was working outside the home but now cant...
I have been gettign on the treadmill everynight and walking while i watch some tv. Figure it will help get me ready to keep up with DD4 and also break in the new shoes real well. I have 29 more days and would love to see 10# gone by then...

can we all :cheer2: each other on?

Good job everyone for posting. Keep up the hard work.

What doe everyone try to do for exercise? I have 2 kiddos (10m and 4). I have a treadmill but after all day I'm just so tired after getting the kids to bed and cleaning up the house.

My dad was so nice as to sign me up on his gym membership. The kids LOVE the play area they have so it's been sooo nice to get up and go 1st thing in the morning. I work 2 days/wk so I'm only able to go 3xwk but it's something. I'm finally doing 1hr on the treadmill speedwalking. I've tried to remember to add sit-ups..to help the baby belly jiggle!!

I've gotten the exercise addiction going now and am so worried when DS4 starts pre-school next week. Dropping him off and getting in my 1hr does not work w/ the baby's nap schedule! I gues I'll have to just shorten my workout.

The problem is since I've started going to the gym I've developed this license to eat whatever I want thinking "Oh I'm going to the gym..it's ok" Well I have not lost anymore but have not gained so I guess that's ok.

I need to reign in the eating junk again!!!

Hope everyone's doing well!

My doctor has told me that stretching is a good way to start to loose weight. 20min two times a day. It helps to get the water that we are suppose to be drinking to all the parts that need it.
