Hi all! I've been working hard trying to find a diet I can stick too and to get into a workout routine to shed as much as I can before our vacation in October.

So far I have traded all of my usual foods with raw fruits, veggies and tuna (not raw). I've stoped my Pepsi addiction and have started drinking just water or coffee (we don't need people to die just because I was without my coffee now do we?), and I have started taking the kids to the pool as often as possible for an hour of swimming. Once it starts cooling off I plan on heading to the trails and doing some walking too.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and to wish everyone good luck!

Well done on giving up Pepsi, it's my downfall too. You sound like you are doing well already, good luck

Hey! Good luck. I'd like to lose the rest of my weight before my vacation at the end of October. I was doing well for a while and lost 8 lbs but have recently stopped losing because I've been doing some emotional eating! Any tips?

I think you have a good plan. I'm trying to lose weight for a wedding next month.

As an emotional eater myself what has worked for me is eating on a schedule. I eat three small meals and 2-3 snacks a day. I call them snacks but they'll more like mini meals as they're usually only 100 cals less then my "meals." I tend to eat every 3-4 hours around the same time every day give or take a half an hour. It's forced me to stop and think if I'm hungry or just reacting to something. I'm going through a really stressful situation right now and am still losing because I've made it such a habit to eat at the same times every day. Down 50lbs so far.:thumbsup2

eta: Good luck to the OP, it sounds like you have a good plan in place!

Grab something really crunchy, like carrots or celery if you like them. They serve two purposes, satisfy your crunch need and they'll wear out your jaw if you eat too many LOL I keep a large bag of baby carrots at all times and at the first twinge of hunger for any reason, I start crunching :thumbsup2

GOOD LUCK!!!

It's been about 3 weeks for me and I have only lost 10lbs, but 10lbs is less than I was.

WTG on the 50lbs!!! :thumbsup2
I agree, planning on what time to eat does help keep you focussed on not "snacking".

I allow myself a treat Pepsi once a week. Thank god for coffee and fat free creamers with splenda to keep the caffeine migraines away.

Ever walk into a Starbucks and request no sugar and fat free all the way... ever notice how confused they look??? :lmao:

Ever wonder what Splenda does once in the body? Or what all those unpronouncable words really are on a container of non-everything creamer?

I am a huge 4bucks fan, but only black cofee or black tea for me though.

While I appreciate the motivation of losing weight for a vacation or other similar event, I whole heartedly hope that the motivation becomes a life changing event; that being one where you change your lifestyle to a much healthier life. All too often we lose weight for an event then go to the event and lose all the momentum we had gained. We splurge and do not workout then once baack home we lack motivation to pick it back up. I am one who used to yo-yo a bit before totally giving up. Then I found the motivation to live a more balanced life.

Do yourself a favor at Disney. Challenge yourself to stick to your nutritional plan. Ask how the food is prepared, ask to have sauces placed on the side, avoid the fries (I know there’s gold in them thar fires). Substitute a piece of fruit instead. Ask to have you burger on open faced (cutting more than half the carbs). Drink water, not Coke (ok the water is also Coke just not flavored). When hitting a character meal, do not overload at the buffet. Consider the premium price an entertainment surcharge, not a license to eat. Even though it is included in meal plans, only have one desert the entire trip. You are not wasting money, only increasing the mouse’s profit a really, really small amount. Get up in the morning and walk your resort; all resorts have some version of a walking/jogging map. While out in the morning, grab a couple cups of coffee and bring them back to your spouse.

10 pounds in 3 weeks is huge! Congratulations.

I also like to get the crunchy snacks like carrots. Apples are good too.
