Losing Momentum - how to get it back?

Back in January I went on a diet -- tried not to make a big deal about it, and didn't tell anybody including my husband and kids. I started tracking my calories on SparkPeople and started making little changes here and there. I went off the diet on weekends because my DH and I love to go out to eat so much. The weight was coming off, but slowly. I eventually joined a gym back in March and worked with a personal trainer at least 4 days a week at 2 hours, but usually 5-6 days. Weight wasn't coming off so much, but I have muscles! And stamina! I feel better than I have since I was in my 20s.

This summer I've been losing my momentum and motivation. I don't want to go to the gym as much. My weekends "off" have been expanding to some weekdays. I've been going out a lot with friends (this I don't want to change because I've been a hermit for YEARS). Although I haven't put on any weight, I'm also not losing either.

I don't know, maybe I need a pep talk or something. Or advice on how any of you have gained some motivation. It's not easy! I don't have a lot of support in it. My husband joined the gym with me, but won't go at all now. As far as eating healthier, I'm WAY on my own. It's not that he's UNsupportive, but just not with me.

Sorry this is so long. If you've read this far, you get a cookie... or carrot stick, your choice. :teeth:
How can your family be 'with you' if you haven't communicated what you are doing. Tell your family. Get them involved. Ideally, that means that someone in your family will be in the treches with you, but even if they are just cheering from the sidelines, it could help.

I've long since told them. What I meant was, I didn't make a big fuss about going on a diet like I had in the past, buying books and exercise videos... basically gearing myself up -- I just DID it this time. I told them after I'd been successful for a couple of weeks.

I've told my family that, while I don't want them sitting there questioning every bite that goes in my mouth, I'd also appreciate not being tempted with big bags of chips or having cartons of ice cream in the house. My 13 year old is really trying to change her eating habits to more healthy foods, but my husband is not even close to being on board, other than joining the gym (though he stopped going after 2 weeks).

Several years ago, my wife and I were trying to lose weight. We were eating all the horribly tasteless diet foods and working out at the gym every day. We were doing pretty well, but then my wife hit 'the wall'. She reached that point where you're working as hard as ever, but you're not really seeing much improvement. She got tired of putting herself through everything and still not making improvement, so she fell off the wagon. It took me very little time to fall off, too. Soon after, we cancelled our unused gym membership. We since found another way to move toward our goals that worked for us (and then we fell off the wagon now that we're having a baby, but we have every intention to get back to it after Sarah is born).

*** My point's coming up if you want to skip over the boring junk. ***

If she suggested tomorrow that we start going back to the gym, I would go back with her. I am much more likely to work hard if someone else is doing it with me.

My advice to you, is to eat right with your daughter and get your husband to go to the gym with you. That way you will have support through both endevours. Also, if he eats bad stuff around you, just slap him in the back of teh noggin.
