Anyone out there trying to lose some weight for an upcoming WDW trip in Nov?

I am! My goal is 25 lbs by my Nov 3 arrival. I started one month ago and am down 11 lbs to date. This is part of a bigger goal of losing more than 100 lbs but I'm trying to do it within smaller incremental goals like this first 25. :)

:wishten

I'm not going to WDW until Jan, but I'm looking to lose 15 lbs by the holidays. (because I'll probably pack a few on during said holidays!)

I'm also trying to train for a 1/2 in January, but I have yet to start, which puts me a week behind. I'm already eating healthy, although I could stand to lower my portion sizes.

I don't have a lot of support at home for the weight loss. DH is also overweight. I hope though, that if I start losing weight, he'll want to start to too. I miss my old body and can't wait to find it again under this layer of blubber that's been slowly adding up over the past couple years. I know that 15 lbs doesn't sound like a lot, but to me, it's enough to have to lose.

Great job on the weight you've lost so far. How are you doing it?

I'm with you on the November trip!!!

I'm leaving Nov 12th for 8 nights and starting this month am hoping to lose some weight before I get down there. Not hoping.....am GOING to!!!!

I have putting it off and putting it off....'Ill start tomorrow'....I need to start now! So I've started.

And congratulations for already losing 11lbs! That's a fantastic start:banana:

Keep us posted on your progress!!! Would love to hear how you are doing:)

Im trying to lose 29 by November 19th for my daughters birthday. It would put me 10 pounds below my pre pregnancy weight with her, but at my pre pregnancy I had with the twins before I miscarried.
Im also working on toning my stomach. That would be ideal. I dont care about the weight, I care about the buldge my daughter gave me from laying the way she did.

We're also arriving Nov 3rd! :cool1: I'm trying to lose another 14lbs before our trip. I started losing weight at the end of March and am down over 5olbs so far! I just realised you want to lose 14lbs too! :thumbsup2 I think that it's doable! Good luck :goodvibes

:welcome: everyone!!!

I'm excited to see you all here and would love to help support each other in our efforts! :grouphug:

Welcome and awesome job!! I know what you mean about the support at home. I've been overweight most of my life so trying to lose weight isn't new to me. There have been times when my husband has been great and sometimes not-so-great but in the end, I think the struggle is really ours alone. There will always be people who are bad influences and people who can inspire you to stay motivated, focused and on track (like those of us here!). But it is us alone who can say no to the cookie or get up in the morning to get to a Zumba class or choose baked chicken breast over a big plate of lasagna. Do you know what I mean? Don't let his lack of support be another excuse for you. You sound like you are doing it a great job without it!

I am about 110lbs overweight right now but I'm trying to break it down in smaller goals so 15lbs is a lot to me!! It's hard now matter how much your goal is!

I'm eating better, drinking better (water or unsweet tea only with a rare alcoholic bevvie) and doing C25K. I did it last year and discovered for the first time in my life (38 years at that point) I actually like to run! I did a 5k in May 2010 and lost 30 lbs. Then my Planter fasciitis came back with avengance leading to foot surgeries in Nov and Dec. Feet finally started to feel better and I'm on week 5. I have my first "long run" of 20 minutes scheduled for today but I'm a little scared and putting it off. I always run in the early morning (so my neighbors can't laugh at me!) and I was out with friends way too late last night so I didn't get up when I should have. Now I'm waiting until later tonight. I'm determined to do it though!:cheer2:

That's great about the 1/2 marathon!! I have a longterm goal with some friends of mine to come to WDW in 2013 for the Princess 1/2 Marathon. We'll see!!! I have ALOT of work to do and long runs ahead of me before then. Just hoping and praying my foot problems are finally behind me!!!

Thanks!! Where are you guys staying? We are at CSR. We were at POP but realized with FD it wasn't that much difference to move to a mod since we were upgrading from QSDP to DxDP.

And yes, you need to get started NOW!! :cheer2:

WOW!! 60 lbs lost already!!! :thumbsup2 You are amazing! Friends of mine swear bu Zumba for toning stomachs. One did 30 days of Zumba and I dream of having her stomach one day.

Wait...we are going to be at WDW at the same time AND we share the same goal???? it IS a small world after all! (sorry to any who now have that song in stuck in your head!). ;)

I hope it's doable and perhaps passable since it's the first of 5 shorter goals I have in my quest to lose about 125 lbs for good!! My next will be for my 40th bday in Feb. :). Thanks for the encouragement!

Where are you staying at for your trip?

I am going to be there in November as well! My goal is to lose 40 lbs by the trip and I have already lost 19 lbs on Weight Watchers. I have already seen so many wonderful benefits of losing the weight, I have more energy, I need new clothes, my joints don't hurt, and I have a better outlook on life.

One mistake I don't want to make again is setting a goal, reaching it, and then gaining it all back. I did that a few years ago. But at the same time I am telling myself I don't want to be on a diet at the park.

AWESOME job with losing those 19lbs!!! :woohoo:

I'm with you on losing and then gaining it all back. I've lost 30lbs twice and gained it all back and then some over the years. The last time was last year...lost 30 lbs between Jan - May and ended up gaining it AALLLLLL back by Sept!!! Kept adding them on to until I reached my highest. I have MUCH more than 30 to lose (always have) so reaching a goal ONCE is an accomplishment in itself even if you gained it back. :worship:

I will join in with you !! We are going to be there Nov 2-9 and I need to lose weight before we go. I also have about 100 pounds to lose, but I am taking it in small goals. My problem is that I am an emotional eater and I lost my job at the beginning of June after 13 years. So after I lost the job, I was so excited because I would have plenty of time to exercise and eat right, but I still haven't been able to get myself on a good schedule, working the same schedule all those years really helped keep my house organized, now that I have a lot of free time, I just don't budget it correctly. But I am getting scared now, because I just don't want to walk around Disney as heavy as I am now. I am about the same size I was during last years trip, but my feet were killing me after walking all day, and I know it's the weight (even though I like to blame my shoes !!) So today I went to the grocery store, stocked up on my healthy foods, and logged onto the dis for some support, I am glad to find your thread. I will check in often, Good Luck !!!:thumbsup2

:welcome: aboard!! Wow! You have gone through some stress recently, haven't you?! Just the thought of losing my job sets me on a bag of chips while no one's watching!

I know what you mean about the walking. During our trip last Sept, I was in agony. I had Planter fascitis so that was a good excuse but it definitely was due to my weight (I had also gained back the 30 lbs I had lost up until the previous May). I've had two foot surgeries since and now being virtually pain-free after 2 1/2 yrs of servere foot pain, I've have sworn not to look back! Knowing how bad your health can be and how much harder losing weight becomes when you grow less mobile, I'm now determined not to waste any more time and LOSE. THIS. WEIGHT.

I got on the scale today and I've lost 15.5 lbs since July 6th. :woohoo: I credit doing From the Couch to the 5K (C25K) and an app for my iPhone called MyNetDiary. If you have never run before or think you can't, I HIGHLY recommend you try C25K before you swear running off. I spent the better part of 38 yrs avoiding running. I tried C25K for the first time starting in March 2010 and did my first 5K in May 2010. I weighed around 240 lbs!!! Now, I didn't run the whole thing because of a few things: 1) My Planter fascitis which hadn't been bothering me, flared up horribly about three weeks before the race; and 2) I made a HUGE mistake in doing all my pre-5K running on a treadmill because I thought I could never, ever run outside. Well, treadmills don't get you ready to run with wind, hills over grass and gravel. Did I mention the course I choose for my first 5K was also described by a friend who runs marathons as "The worst"? :rolleyes1

Well, I am 6 weeks into trying C25K again AND I'm doing all my running outside and discovered that at 39 yrs old and with an awesome playlist, I LOVE running! Well, maybe it's more trotting but I'm still doing it even being overweight by 110 lbs!! I have to be at work by 8 a.m. and get DD8 and DD3 ready so I'm up every-other-morning and out the door running by 5:30. Plus that way, I avoid alot of stares and scaring my neighbors. But hey, I figure I got to look better being overweight and running then I do being overweight and standing in line at a buffet!!!

Where are you staying at in November BTW??

We are staying at AKL, which we love, our 4th stay there !! I added the calorie counter/food journal app to my blackberry, which tracks your food and counts the calories, which is SCARY !! But now that I am really trying hard, it's not so bad. I think having a place to vent and people who understand your struggle is good. My husband is overweight also, but only by about 40 pounds, which when he puts his mind to it he can drop in a month !!! We joined a CSA co-op (Community Supported Ag) this summer, so every tuesday we get a great assortment of fruits and veggies. it really is a great way to support our local farm and we get lots of great veggies. So I will have plenty of healthy foods in the house. C25K sounds great, I had broken my ankle 2 years ago, and last year had to have surgery, so running sounds scary for me right now, I am just afraid that I will hurt something. I still get swelling if I do to much walking . I am sticking to the walking in the neighborhood and going to the gym. But I really need to amp it up, because WDW is coming up super fast. !!:thumbsup2
My daughter wants me to add the clothesline smiley, I have no idea why, but here you go. :laundy:

How did you lose those 50 lbs?

I cut out all the junk out of my diet. I also have Planter Fascitis and I'm a nurse, so I'm pretty much on my feet all day. Anyway I'd just had enough and felt like if I lost some weight then it wouldn't be as bad. Unfortunately that hasn't turned out to be the case! I could probably do with getting more exercise but I'm just so tired by the time I get home from work that I haven't really come up with an exercise programme yet! It's like the mind is willing but the body's weak!!

Good luck to everyone! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

I don't know if you have cable with on demand, but I found on exercise TV an easy walk video that I was a good starting point for exercising. You just walk in place for 20 minutes which is the equivalent of a mile. Plus you get to do it inside, in the AC and noone else can see you (except family members.) Other thing I like about it is that it fits into my schedule, it is easy to find 20 minutes at home knowing I don't have to go drive to a gym.

How is everyone doing???:)

As of today, I've lost 18 lbs since July 7th! My goal was to lose 25 by our Nov 3 WDW arrival date so I'm getting really excited at the thought of needing a new goal!! :cool1:

We are taking our DDs8&3 to the drive-in tonight. My willpower has only been tested for a 2 hr movie...I don't know if I can resist movie popcorn for a double feature!!!!:guilty:
