Lose a camera? This web site may have found it

Ok, dumb question time: See my message above? Used to be when I inserted a hyperlink into a post, I got a box where you could insert both the web address (the "http://" stuff) and then another box where you could put in a short description (like "Lost Camera Article") and only the short description would show in the link. I don't get that any more, just the box for the web address. I've seen other folks post links with a short description, so it can be done somehow. Can somebody tell me?

I looked in my user control panel, and the only place I figured it could be was in the editing section, and I have that set for the "wysiwyg" option. Is that wrong?

Let me try...
Canon Website.

When I clicked the link button, I also only saw a single line for the address, but when I clicked ok, I saw this...

[
URL="http://www.canon.com"]http://www.canon.com

with the text between the [ URL ] tags highlighted and able to be edited. (It was highlighted with a grey background. I can't seem to replicate that, so I just changed my font to Red for demonstration purposes.) If it's not highlighted, you can always just edit the text anyway by selecting it normally.

I changed my link above to...
[ URL="http://www.canon.com"]Canon Website.

By the way, I added a space between URL and [] so you could see the markup.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Donold_fan, I tried it again, but I don't get the [ URL ] when I click ok after inserting the link, just the web address. Very weird. I think I'll post this question over on the tech support board and see what they say. It used to work just fine; don't know what happened.

Amy, I think what you mean is using the globe icon above. Highlight the words you want to underline/link in your post. Then click the globe icon and an http window will come up. Backspace to remove the http part, then paste your url there and close the box. It should work that way.

Donold Fan - I posted on the tech board, and Dan Murphy was able to help (thank you again Dan). My problem was in my editing options in the User CP - I had it set to "wysiwyg" and Dan suggested I change it to "standard". Once I did that, the text between the [ URL ] tags was highlighted and able to be edited, just like you said. Now I'm back in business! Thanks guys!:thumbsup2
