LOS passes?

Does anyone know what a LOS pass for two weeks would cost (Sat to Sat) with or without the 10% DVC discount? Do they even sell two week LOS passes?

You can get an UMP for any amount of time. However, a long stay usually works out better buying an AP. Pete has a listing for UMP's in his ticket prices. Below is the link. 12 nights/13 days for an adult is $475.97 with no discount.

I'm sure that's just a typo. TL is included in the UMPs.

The break even point for APs being a better deal is 8-9 days. I do NOT reccomend a premium AP since the cost of a day at a water park is far less than the added cost of the premium. LOS can be a good deal up to 8-9 days, but for 2 weeks, an AP is better.

Definitely AP if you are planning annual trips like that, as the renewal for the AP is at a lower cost. Also, consider the following that favors the AP:

The cost of the AP plus the separate entry cost for four trips to any combination of Disney Quest, Blizzard Beach, and Typhoon Lagoon (for which there are DVC discounts) will cost you less than a LOS for the period you are going. Pleasure Island and River Country are much cheaper than DQ, TL, or BB. and thus if you plan on going to those, you can even do more than the four separate entries noted above for cheaper than the LOS. In other words, the LOS should not even be considered unless you (and all in your party) plan to do at least five trips to a combination of BB, TL, and DQ (few people do that even in two weeks). Moreover, even if you plan to do that you should then consider the Premium Annual Pass (which will be close to the cost of the LOS) particularly if you intend like trips annually.

We broke even on the AP on 1st visit - went to all 4 parks,
parked at each one, enjoyed food discounts, DD shopping
discounts, and stayed on property. Recently we upgraded
to Premium. That has already paid for itself, too. DQ several
times & PI as well. It's well worth it - even without the water
parks so far. It's always great to go.....

I need to plan a trip now!

I've always read that 8 or 9 days was the break even point for AP vs. LOS. I've even passed this along to friends. But if a 12 nights/13 days LOS pass is $475.97 without a discount, it's $428.37 with the discount. But a premium annual pass is $497.17. So it looks to me like the break even point is closer to two weeks than 9 days.

Am I missing something?

An AP is $369.94, Jimbo. The Premium Annual Pass is much more expensive and probably not as good a value unless you make a lot of use of the water parks or PI. (I'm pretty sure there is also an annual pass for PI. In the future, I'm going to consider going from a PAP to an AP with this option.)

But comparing an LOS to a regular AP is apples and oranges, isn't it? It looks like the simple "9 days is the break-even point" advice needs a few disclaimers, I guess.

The nine days is the break even point rule for AP is one applicable to non-DVC Members. It does not factor in the 10% discount for the LOS that DVC members get (although I am betting most who buy an AP use some kind of discount such as DC). The AP provides a number of additional benefits such as restaurant, merchandise, DQ, and room discounts which generally do not provide any huge benefit to DVC members because we don't normally use room discounts and being a DVC member provides many of the same extras and sometimes more extras (like discounts to the waterparks) than you get with the AP. The AP is renewable at a lower rate and definitely becomes the pass of choice for persons who visit annually for 9 days or more even if they are DVC members and especially if they don't go to those waterparks and DQ more than a few times a year.

Last year we purchased PAPs (and then joined DC a month later thus missing the discount).

Here's a question....

When the renewal comes up, can we switch to AP's instead and get them at the cheaper renewal rate?

A PAP holder can renew by getting an AP at the AP renewal rate (and you can use your DC discount on that) and vice versa for an AP holder who wants to renew to a PAP.
