This probably sounds wierd but, one of the five things that my 5yo niece eats for dinner is calamari. We figure that she probaly is thinking that she is eating a french fry. Other than that its your basic hot dog, chicken fingers, french fries and buttered noddles.

I noticed that you can only get calamari at L'Originale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante. This would be good to let her have something else rather then a hot dog or chicken tenders.

I never dined here and was wondering how it was. There has not been many reviews posted about this place and the ones that have been, were usually negative. Thanks

We ate there for dinner during our trip in January. My two DD - 4 and 2 - loved it. The kids spaghetti meal was very good.

I ordered the calamari appetizer which was very good. The order was also huge. My wife had some chicken dish that she said was good and I had the fettucine alfredo which was very good.

The service was fantastic - very attentive and friendly. I recommend this restaurant even though many do not.

Hi,

I haven't been to Alfedo's. The reviews have kind of scared me away but there are lots of other places to get calamari. I assume you are looking for fried?

Try these also...

Rainforest Cafe - AK and DD - Lunch and Dinner
Coastal Calamari - Tender calamari deep-fried and served with chunky marinara sauce $8.25

Mama Melrose - MGM - Lunch and Dinner
Crispy Calamari - with a spicy tomato sauce $5.99

Tony's - MK - Lunch and Dinner
Calamari Fritti - crispy calamari with olive relish and drizzled with caper aioli $6.49

Spoodles - Boardwalk - Dinner
Crispy Fried Calamari - with pepperoncini relish $7.29

Coral Cafe - Dolphin and Garden Grove - Swan - Lunch
Fritto Misto - crisp fried calamari, rock shrimp and artichoke hearts, spicy Cajun remoulade dipping sauce $7.25

Portobello Yacht Club - Downtown Disney - Dinner
Calamari Fritti - Fried calamari with tomato and roasted garlic sauces $9.95

Wolfgang Puck Cafe - Downtown Disney
Crispy Calamari - served with a tangy-curry ginger and spicy tomato-basil-garlic dipping sauces $9.95

So, as you can see you have more choices than Alfredo's! I am sure these places would be happy to omit the sauces or put them on the side if they would be a bit much for your niece. I actually love the calamari at Mama Melrose.

Have fun...

Our family liked everything we had at Alfredo's. My DH and I ate there three years ago on our 30th anniversary trip and loved it. Last year we took the whole family (two teens and my DB) and once again everything was wonderful. I think I would go there just for the tiramisu.

If I were you I'd go to Spoodles for calamari.

I've been to Alfredos' a few times over the years and I have come to the conclusion that it is the worst restaurant in the world (not just Disney World, but the entire world)

It's hard to put into words just how bad Alfredo's is but let me put it this way: did you see the movie "Alive" about a South American soccer team that resorted to cannibalism when they were stranded in the Andes mountains after a plane crash? Well those stranded soccer players had better meals than you will have if you eat at Alfredo's.

I ate at Alfredo's in Sept. It wasnt all that great for us! Bad service, squished in like sardines in a can!! And the food was bleh! My spaghetti was WAY undercooked...to the point that it was almost crunchy! We paid a lot for our meal so we thought it wasnt worth it. That being said, I believe if it interests you, you should try it. We might have hit it on an off night or had a new server or any # of things.

Ya know, I used to agree about Alfredo's, but I thought I'd givie it another chance and we went on 1/1/03 and our meal was great. The service was wonderful, not at all crowded like other visits, and the food was very tasty. We had one of the first lunch seatings, which we have never done there in the past, so maybe that made the difference. It was nothing like our past visits and we actually want to eat there again, instead of vowing never to go near it like we had for years. So if you're planning on going, I'd go at the earliest seating for lunch or dinner and you might end up liking it.

We've been to Alfredo's a few times and have enjoyed it each time, the food and the atmosphere. We plan on going back in May.

Alfredo's is alright, but I would definetly go somewhere else with calimari if all you are going there is for the calimari. If not there dishes are huge, thick, creamy, and filling. You feel 10 pounds heavier after eating there but the food is good.

My experience with Alfredo's has been hit and miss. Sometimes the food is wonderful, othertimes it is just awful (although not as bad as Nine Dragons). The Calamari has always been good, and the service good.

We've been going to 'Fredo's since Epcot opened. If you stick with the fettucini alfredo I think you'll be pleased. As for the calamari, I think it also is excellent. Service is hit and miss, but we have found that at many WDW restaurants. You are lucky to have a child that will eat calamari. This will save you from eating only at places that serve chicken nuggets.

We really like Alfredo, we were there last week, and did have the calamari, it was excellent, very light with a nice marinara sauce, both of my girls also like calimari.
the fettucine is also very good. It is a very busy, very loud restaurant, I really feel that I am in Italy when I go there.

We had lunch there on Friday - loved it! DS loves the calamari and I do too - much better than what we had at Fulton's. We had a great, gorgeous waiter and very attentive service. I love their green salad and tried the gnocci this time. DS sticks with fettucine alfredo and choc mousse for dessert. We go there every trip and have never, ever had bad service or a bad meal.

We also eat at Alfredo's every trip. We really like it there and have never had a bad meal or service there.

Be sure to report back on what happens when she finds out what calamari really is.

The calamari at Mama Melrose's is excellent. We all love it!

I wouldn't recomend Alfredo's to anyone! We ate there in January and out of all my trips to Disney this had to be the worse meal (and service) that we've ever had. Before we even got in the door the cast member was rude. That should have been our first sign that it wasn't going to be a good experience. We had an extremely rude waiter and the food was so/so. As a matter of fact I was sick for 2 days afterwards. We had to make a run to Walgreens to get me something to settle my stomach and slow down the diarreah (sp). It was just a bad experience all the way around. I would try to find somewhere else to take your daughter for calamari!

As you have already noticed Alfredo's is one of those resturaunts that people either love or hate.

We are in the Love category.
Its a must do for our family on every trip to WDW and it hasn't ever let us down. I have no experience with the calamari, so I can't help you. But I will tell you what we have found.
Alfredos can get very crowded, so we like go at slightly off times - a late lunch or early dinner. Also its not fast food, so you might want to consider your schedule when going. Its a laid back place and you might not get in and out in 35 minutes. Relax and enjoy, don't feel rushed. We have found the service to be attentive and the food to be wonderful.

If you decide to try Alfredos let us know what category you fall into. This is why they have so many resturaunts, we arent all going to agree on what makes good Italian food. Enjoy!

DANICAW,

you are so, so right . . . we feel exactly the same way about Alfredo's and that is exactly why we go there - to sit back, sit down, look around and enjoy! my ds(11) and I were there last week for the "late lunch routine" and barely had a seat before the gorgeous, attentive Mariano approached - big smile and so, so friendly. we love the place, always have, probably always will.

My DH and I must go every trip. We try to go during the off hours too, maybe a late lunch or early dinner. We usually both get a salad and split the Fettuccini Alfredo. My DH and I are easily impressed, so I guess some people who don't like Alfredo's must have higher standards. It is good to get some advice on a restaurant, but I think that you must try it yourself to really know if it is bad or good. We are going in April, and my DH likes calamari, and I do not. We are going with a bunch of his family member, so hopefully he will get it then. Let us know how it is? Have fun! :)
