Lordy! Libby Lu is closing!

DD has pretty much outgrown the Libby Lu parties, but she still likes to shop for the glitzy stuff they sell. So we are on their mailing list. Tonight we got an email that said they're closing all their stores at the end of January, so if you're got gift cards, you might want to get in there and use them. The one in our mall did a booming business, but I guess that must not have been true of all their stores.....

I can't stand that store either. However, a new store just like it (Sweet and Sassy) is opening or has opened near us.

I wonder if that one will survive.

Re: Sweet and Sassy....I saw that store....up at the shops where the Cherry Hill racetrack used to be. I didnt go in....but I saw that they have a limo decorated outside that you can use for birthday parties for the little girls also!!!!!!!!!!

Sweet and Sassy is Libby Lu on steroids. Ours is doing very well and gave Libby Lu a run for its money, mainly because LL only appeals to girls until a certain age and S&S appeals to them even when they're a bit older. So they have a bigger customer base.

That bigass hot pink limo is hysterical. It's even pink on the inside. About once a month, it picks up a load of girls at DD's school for a party. All the kids crane their necks to see who is getting to ride in the limo this time. Oh, the envy. I'm glad DD gets invited to parties where someone else pays for that limo, so I can skip it. It's a pricey perk that I don't want to fork over cash for.

We've visited this store in Orlando and Mall of America and found nothing at either. I geuss when we go to our mall, we will give it another shot.

Actually, DD's favorite purchase there was a top that said, "My Dad ROCKS!" She wears it on Father's Day. Her uncle also bought her a pink furry moon chair. You know, the round ones that swivel? I bought very few items there, because they were hideously overpriced. But she loved that 5 items for $10 area. Our main experience there was going to parties when she was younger. By 9, they have pretty much outgrown them. From chatting with moms from other parts of the country, I gather our Libby Lu was much more conservative than some. They put very little makeup on the girls....almost none at all. The hairdos were the main event. That and getting to do the dance at the end. If ours had been a hootchie Libby Lu, we'd have never gone in. This is the Bible Belt.....Hootchie doesn't sell well, especially on little girls.

The main reason I posted was to alert anyone with gift cards to get in there and use them before they become invalid. That would be a pity.

My little girl is now 22 and married so the LL store were lost on me anyway . They were not making money and you know how SAKS is ... They want money and if they dont get it they close ya down .
