Does anyone here like it? Personally, I'm obsessed. I've watched the movie countless times, as well as the extra features and interviews, I have a two and a half page list of all of the cast and crew who worked on it, and spent $20 Saturday on a book that decribed all the armor and weapons and battles in the trilogy. I'm reading the books again too. :teeth:

I love the movies. The story is so inspring and great. Even though it's totally fiction, it has a lot of real-life elements to it and touches on the depths and intricacies of human nature, w/ the timeless theme of good v. evil...the strength you can find w/i to overcome obstacles...and true friendship. Very good characters also. The books are on my "to read" list. :teeth: I thought the movies were very well made, too. Oftentimes a movie that could be really good is ruined by bad acting, inconsistent music, etc. But w/ these movies, the music matched the moods perfectly and the acting was superb. I don't like them to a point of obsession, though. I've just never really been one to obsess over one specific thing...probably b/c I am too indecisive, lol...that and I just like a wide variety of things.
So, you are obviously into the fantasy genre...have you read Eragon and Eldest? I'm really looking forward to the movie. And what about the Prydain Chronicles? That's what I'm reading right now. I started the series, like, 6 yrs. ago and never got around to finishing them. Now I own all 5. They're really good, but a lot shorter than I remember :goodvibes

I like the movies. i didn't think i would like them at first but my cousins made me watch them. i wouldnt say i am obbsessed but i like them alot, i will never read the books though. my cousins are absolutly obbsessed with them, they could talk about it for hours.

I think the movies are excellent. :thumbsup2 I hear that Peter Jackson will sometime in the future be making The Hobbit.(I don't know why he wouldn't pass up this chance to complete an excellent work of fiction) I don't think that I am obsessed w/ the movies and books but i have watched all of them countless times, been to the theater to see them, read the books, and watched interviews/making-ofs. Even though you may think that I am crazy about these priceless works of literature, I am not. I just like to read and watch really good pieces of media...
p.s. i think Viggo and Orlando in the movies are the hottest, but Billy Boyd could compete w/ them...

they are okay... I wouldn't say they are any of my favorites!

im not really into them. but i did hear theyre making a lord of the rings show for broadway, due out sometime in 06. i heard its costing a pretty penny for the industry as well.

I COMPLETELY agree with you, 100%! Peter Jackson is my favorite director, and Howard Shore is one of the best composers. I think the whole cast, from the two guys who spent two years making chain mail (they now have no fingerprints on their thumb and index finger), to Peter, Fran, and Philippa.

Yes, I've read Eragon four times, and Eldest once, since I just got it for my birthday (I'd read it before then). And actually, I've never heard of the Prydain Chronicles.

I really liked lord of the rings. I never cared for them until my english teacher showed us some of fellowship before christmas break. I wanted to see the rest of the movie and then continue watching the trilogy. Well, I did finish watching and bought all 3 extended versions.

:goodvibes So, the Prydain Chronicles are by Lloyd Alexander, and it's about an Assistant Pig-Keeper who begins his life feeling lowly and not knowing his parentage. Like many fantasy characters, he yearns to be a hero and to get away from his mundane world...when the oracular pig, Hen Wen, suddenly runs away, he gets his chance and ends up time and again on quests to help save the kingdom from evil...that's about the best can describe it w/o giving too much away. It may not sound all that great, but really the plot is great and the characters are excellent. The only downside is that they are fairly short and don't contain the high vocabulary level and complex writing style of, say, Harry Potter 6 or Eldest. Still, very good books and recommended. The first one is called The Book of Three.

I think I'm the only person on the face of the Earth who's never seen any of them 0_o

I mean it's not that I'm not interested I'm just not up to sitting there for 9+ hours to watch em.

I have them all, so maybe SOME day I'll take the plunge and watch them! lol. Who knows maybe I'll become crazy obsessed with them :teeth:

Cool. I'll have to check it out. :thumbsup2
Cool - I think you will find they are worth the time. I'm on the last one now, and I've decided they get better w/ each book. :)
Disney actually made a cartoon version of the second book, The Black Cauldron, like in the 80s, but it wasn't very good. I disliked it mainly b/c they took a whole lot of liberties w/ the plot, making more of a combo of the 1st and 2nd books, leaving out the main villains and expanding the roll of the minor one, etc. They even changed the climactic end :sad2: . I'm hoping that, like LOTR and Chronicles of Narnia, this will eventually be put into a better, live-action format...b/c didn't LOTR and Narnia start out as cartoons, too? Maybe I should start writing letters... :stir: :p

Yeah, I've seen The Black Cauldron, and as a kid it freaked me out. And Lord of the Rings did start out as a cartoon too; I remember when I was a kid and Dad had the cartoon Hobbit on a shelf. The picture of Bilbo on the side scared me to death. And DramaQueen, it is sooo worth watching the movies!!! I'm waiting for a day during the summer when everyone's out of the house so I can have a LOTR marathon, with all of the extended movies and the extras.
