Lord of the Rings at Universal!!!????

A new ride there sounds like a good idea. Like I said, love the books and movie, just didn't feel like there was a lot to do there.

So, toon lagoon does seem likely. Can't wait to see how this all plays out. They'll definitely get my family back for more visits with all the updates that are being talked about on here! :thumbsup2

Well JP is one of those things that has always had expansion plans. They actually were going to have a helicopter tour attraction, but I believe the plans were too similar to Soarin'.

There was also rumors of a jeep ride which more closely resembled the movie.

Those are OLD rumors though and I don't know what they're planning right now.

Also, one reason why JP seems so barren is the fact that the Triceratops Encounter didn't last very long. It had a lot of nice walk-through themed areas which were really interesting IMO.

(Insider info: Ever wonder why the JP ride in Orlando and Hollywood is a boat ride that wasn't in the movie? I heard about the attractions plans before the movie was even completed. The JP Book had a river raft scene in it so my guess is that it was planned for the movie but never filmed...though the attraction kept it :confused3 )

chrisfl, that is interesting about the background on the boat ride.
thanks homie!

That's really interesting.
All these new additions at the parks sound really awesome. Can't wait until they become a reality. :)

Yep, it was strange... my mother worked at Universal Studios Florida when it first opened in 1990.

She told me one night that Steven Spielberg was working on an attraction based on a dinosaur movie. This was oddly 1991 or 1992 and I hadn't heard anything about Jurassic Park at all, so I was confused...then in 1993 the movie came out, and in 1995 the Hollywood version of the ride opened.

The boat ride was mentioned in the book and BRIEFLY mentioned in the movie. It is the scene where they are in the dining room with Hammond and the video in the background is discussing the plans for other rides/attractions when it opens, it is mentioned in that video.Hammond then says something like " none of these attractions will be online when the park opens, the park will open with the tour you are about to take." ..

Jurassic Park isn't going anywhere, in fact, rumors are strong that they are adding a new ride to it soon.

interesting, love the shade in this area, hope they'd keep it.

i'd really miss popeye:bitelip:best raging-rapid attraction ever!

I doubt that Popeye's structure would change...just the theming. I think it could be even better than it already is.

Add those 2 huge statues as you enter Gondor!

The Argonath.

Back to the JP thing for a moment, it was announced yesterday that JP4 is being released in May 2014...more reason for it to stay in the park.

Really? I didn't hear that yet, need to go look.Though I have to say I was unimpressed with all but the 1st ..

I just read that earlier about the new movie :thumbsup2 Will give it a shot.

I`m not a huge fan of dinosaur movies (or LOTR)........but we LOVE JPRA.

Glad it won`t be going anywhere.
