Paul, Im so relieved for you as its nothing to serious and can be treated with the help of various medications. I have an under active thyroid so I do understand a little of what you are going through, although I am a little jelous as I put weight on instead of loosing it:rotfl2: . You may also be aware that I was diagnosed with Breast cancer a while ago and have almost finished my treatment-I start radiotherapy on tuesday! so if the worst comes to the worst for you and you need radiotherapy and need someone to talk to feel free to PM me any time.

The best medication of all will be that trip to disney and I cant wait for mine in september. Take care and please keep us upated:hug:

Apologies, Paul, I haven't been keeping up with this. You must be relieved that it's not diabetes after all. Looks as though everything is getting sorted out bit by bit. :thumbsup2

Thats good news, my friend has a thyroid problem & has it controlled by tablets.

That's good news Paul :goodvibes

Glad you've had a diagnosis and can now start to get it treated :) It must be a relief just knowing what's been causing the problem

Paul,so glad it was'nt more serious. Now you know what it is you can get treated for it.x.

:thumbsup2 Glad you've got the results now, Paul.

Make sure you take your medication like a good boy!

i had very serious thyroid problems for many years.. an underactive thyroid with many complications...

Im sure that the carbimazole will sort you out in no time Paul.. and you will get to understand when you are over or under medicating and be able to regulate it yourself..

it took about six years to regulate mine completely but by that time I had some rather unfortunate side effects.. none of them life threatening but serious cosmetic stuff..

the only reason Im telling you this, is that if you suspect you have any other symptoms then get them looked at straight away as they might be able to stop them in their tracks...

Glad its not something more serious.... but dont underestimate an underactive thyroid... it can be nasty if untreated....

Go and enjoy your holiday and dont worry about anything until you get back - Disney is the best medication you can get ;) :)

My mum had an overactive thyroid gland and had radiotherapy treatment for it. They gave her a drug at the hospital which had radioactive iodine in it (component of the hormone thyroxine made by the thyroid gland). She was able to come home but she was a bit radioactive for a week or two. She just had to avoid close contact with people and use her own towels and cutlery etc. Oh and flush the toilet twice too. (Why do I remember this so well? It was years ago). She was able to do things as normal. It destroyed her thyroid gland which made her 'underactive' She then has had to take thyroxine tablets for the rest of her life and a blood test to check levels every so often. This was about 20 years ago and she has had no problems. Also it meant she was entitled to free prescriptions.
Hopefully this will be of some interest to you Paul or anyone else. Glad you can have a great holiday.
