loosing weight good or bad *update post 34* update 55*update post 75

No advice Paul but just wanted to say goodluck.

Well Paul, Best of luck at the docs

I agree with everyone else who has suggested thyrotoxicosis or diabetes.

The good news is that both can be managed really well, and once under control you will be fighting fit again.

Let us know how you get on

Ps I was thyrotoxic, my son is type 1 diabetic and my brother in law is type 2 diabetic

Take care

so this all points to Diabetes

Paul, father-in-law went through rapid weight loss and in his case it was diabetes.
I think you are doing the right thing by getting checked out early by a GP.
Hopefully it will not be dramatic and something that can be easily explained :thumbsup2

My Dad regularly has the fasting blood tests. He was diagnosed as being Type II diabetic about 18 months ago. His is being controlled through diet and cholesterol-lowering tablets. He didn't really have any symptoms before he was diagnosed, it was just picked up at a regular check-up, but the symptoms you've described do sound like the ones suggested to him by our doctor.
Good luck with the future tests :thumbsup2

Well done for having the test, I think that was better than to wait until the doc's on Friday. Did they tell you what your count was? Well controlled Diabetes (or a non diabetes person) is between 4-8, when DH was first diagnosed he was a whopping 16!
When you have your fasting tests they will probably do a routine blood test called HBA1C - this tests the glucose levels of a blood cell over it's 120day life span and can give you an idea of what your average count, DH's average was over 10, the higher the number the worse the symptoms of Diabetes generally are. This is an important test and can help determine IF you are Diabetic, how long you have been Diabetic. They will also do routine colesterol tests. As you know, you'll end up having more eye tests too.
You're probably quite shocked, I remember DH being quite shocked before he went for his fasting tests. Have you found out if there is any Diabetes in your family?
Best of luck to you Paul :thumbsup2 I'm not the worlds authority by any means, but if you are diagnosed Diabetic and you have any questions just PM me....
Be careful what you look at on the internet too - stick to the official sites - DH scared himself silly at one point for no reason.
