ok not doing anything diffrent than i used too,but DW is a slight concerned as i have lost 2 1/2 stone since xmas
I eat the same as i used to and work the same
Paulh

If you are doing nothing different then you should get checked out by your doctor. 2 1/2 stone takes a lot of hard work to lose intentionally so losing it unintentionally would worry me too.

i do tend to lose a stone and put it back on over the year, work in construction, but to lose it like that i would have to try hard,my avarge weight is 12 1/2 stone at xmas was around 13 1/2 stone but now 11 stone.Thats whats worying the wife, was a 32 now can get into lads 30s

I think you should get it checked,if you havent changed anything thats quite a big loss

I think you should get checked out, it maybe something and nothing and it will put DW's mind at rest. :)

If you want to know before that you can pop into a chemist and they can do a finger prick test, hope everything is ok :goodvibes

if you are really doing nothing different then it certainly sounds like a diabetic problem, a really easy test will sort it out. as you were never really big to begin with i'd be a bit concerned.

Paul,
I'm shaking my head as I type this my friend as I can't believe what I'm reading. I don't want to worry you but it sounds too close to home.....
My DH started having "odd" symptoms over chistmas, like you we found reasons for how he was feeling as it was christmas as it's a time when over indulgence is common.
DH started by having extreme reactions to food - DH has a very sweet tooth, whenever he had sugary food he would have an extreme high then an extreme low, for example we rarely have fizzy drinks in the house, especially full sugar ones but my Mum does! He drank a can of Coke and could hardly move on the sofa. The first week of january he started drinking 25 glasses of water a day, and peeing a LOT. He was extremely tired particularly in the evening, luckily DH was on gardeners leave at the time so it didn't impact his work/career. He was losing a lot of weight and had blurred vision too.
A simple urine test at the GP's and our GP said he was "probably" diabetic but he was to have some fasting blood tests. GP asked him if anybody was Diabetic in his family as he didn't fit the age/weight/lifestyle catagories to develop Type II. After speaking with his Dad is was revealed their are four other males in hid paternal family that are type I.
In February DH developed an uncommon but POTENTIALLY very dangerous side affect to Diabetes called Diabetic ketoacidosis he started losing an incedible amount of weight (half a pound a day) as his body's metabolism was all over the place.
DH is officially diagnosed as Type II diabetic but his pancreas is packing up and will probably become insulin dependent in the future.
I am not saying this is what you have.
I think you need to get to the GP's.
It may by something you can stop in it's tracks.
Good luck.

It may also be worth you having a blood test to check your Thyroid function.
Although more common in women then in men it may be worth checking out.
These are some of the symptoms of an over-active thyroid.

difficulty breathing,
hyperactivity,
mood swings, irritability, and nervousness,
difficulty sleeping,
fatigue (extreme tiredness),
muscle weakness,
needing to pass stools (faeces), or urine, frequently,
diarrhoea or streatorrhoea (excess fat in your stools),
sensitivity to heat and excess sweating,
increased appetite,
sudden weight loss or gain,

If you have any questions please feel free to PM me. I work as a District Nurse :)

Good Luck at the doctors Paul and I hope there's a simple explanation to your weight loss - take care

Hadent thought about diabeties as always had problems with eyes, the diabeties might have brought on the origanal cataracts which at 44 is young

Hi Paul,
Dh brother+there Dad both have diabetes, and yes your symptoms do sound the same as when they were diagnosed(they also suffer with there eyes),BUT it does'nt mean to say this is the problem you have.I hope you get it sorted and that it turns out to be nothing to worry about.Take care.x.

I've got no advice other than to see your Dr asap. I just hope you're OK, Paul... I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you...

Paul, I too was also going to recommend a trip to the Dr's, but I see you have already set the wheels in motion for that. I also think that these symptons may be pointing in the way of Diabetes. Good Luck

Although losing that much weight without trying sounds like a dream come true to me, in all seriousness there must be an underlying cause. Self-diagnosis is always a dangerous path to follow, though. I hope your doctor is able to pinpoint the problem quickly. Let us know how you get on.

As others have mentioned I would get it checked out.

Hope you are okay:hug:

I don't have any advice..other than see your Doctor, which your already doing. Take care and hopefully you will get the all clear. Keep us posted.
