A friend is going to Disney next week and her DD has a loose tooth that may fall out during their stay.

Has anyone had this happen and if so if you mentioned it to resort staff did they give you anything special? She has heard that special coins or a Tinkerbell pin may be available for the 'Tooth Fairy' to use.

TIA!

DS lost a tooth at WDW, and I don't know if staff will do anything, since it didn't occur to me to ask.

We knew it was going to happen, so I brought his little pillow (instead of putting a tooth under the pillow he sleeps on, since he rarely sleeps on a pillow, he and I sewed a little tooth-shaped pillow with a pocket that the tooth is put into) and brought what we give (one or two gold dollar coins). I also snuck back into the Lego store and snagged a Harry Potter minifig keychain as an extra for him. :)

I wouldn't expect anything from the staff for your child losing their tooth. Maybe you should take something special.

I never thought about anything Disney special for a lost tooth.
DD6 had such a wiggly tooth before we left last August, that I made sure she pulled it before we left. She is one to let a tooth hang on a thread forever before finally getting it out so it took quite a bit of encouraging.
I was going solo with DD6 and DS8 and wasn't sure I could pull off the Tooth Fairy and didn't want to chance loosing the tooth.

Seems a little over the top to think they'd do something. DS lost his tooth while standing in line for Winnie thePooh. He was eating popcorn and all of a sudden his tooth was gone. He told us that now he could tell people he really and truly lost his first tooth at WDW.:). The tooth fairy did not come until we got home.

Our DD lost a tooth at WDW this past summer. It was on the verge of falling out and the CM told her that if she lost a tooth at WDW Tinkerbell would bring her $50 (um....thanks for THAT!)

We just left tooth on counter and tooth fairy brought her the usual amount.

Here is what happened to us last year:

When we got to our resort (AKL), we asked at the desk if there was anything that might happen if a kid lost a tooth at WDW, as our older DD was about to have one go. The CM suggested that we should tell our DD that Tooth Fairy duties were covered on WDW property by Tinkerbell (fairy union rules, I presume), and they could get us some props when and if the time came.

When my DD lost a tooth on IASW (now that's a Disney fan), we got off the boat and my wife ran to the nearest store to get a box in which to stash said tooth. The CM behind the counter was awesome and made a big production complete with painstaking wrapping and "pixie dust" glitter and generally making a fuss.

We made sure that we took good care of the box, got back to AKL, and did some flanking maneuvers to get one of us parent-type people to the front desk to see if we could follow through on whatever the first CM had planned. My wife tracked said CM down, and that CM got her one of the light-up Tinkerbell things that they put in some of the kids' drinks to add to the presentation of the tooth ransom.

It worked out really well, and I think let the CMs have a little fun with what was a pretty big deal for DD at the time.

Incidentally, same DD lost a tooth the day after we got back from this year's WDW vacation.

I haven't had one lose one at WDW yet, but both have lost one at the Great Wolf Lodge. The Tooth Fairy brought their $$ in the form of tokens for the arcade. I think if they ever lost one at WDW, Disney Dollars or a gift card might be a good idea.

My DD lost a tooth at WDW 2 weeks ago. We decided that Tinkerbell must be the Tooth Fairy at WDW because instead of the usual $1, a Tinkerbell necklace was left in it's place the following morning :)

We stay offsite, but honestly it never would have occurred to me to ask a CM about a lost tooth!

Thanks for sharing your experience Dea! My friend googled her question and others had shared what happened to them so I thought I'd ask here too.

For those who felt it was 'over the top' to ask Disney...why? They take care of every other detail, why would it hurt to at least ask??? The answer might be a simple, 'No, sorry, we don't cover that.' but you just never know. You may miss out on an awesome opportunity for your child to experience some Disney Magic!!

I will suggest she ask at guest services at her resort if it happens while they're there and then she'll take it from there depending on what the response of the CM is.

The idea of Tinkerbell doing the Tooth Fairy's job while at Disney is a cute one and one I'm sure she'll use!

I think if you asked, you could probably get an envelope, bag, box, or something to put the tooth in so it wouldn't get easily misplaced before you get back to your resort and pillow. I'm not sure how much should be expected beyond that, but getting something simple to put the tooth in wouldn't be unreasonable. Anything beyond that would just be extra magic.

DD has lost two teeth so far at Disney! The second one was on our trip a few weeks ago. The "tooth fairy" left her a minnie mouse light up toothbrush!! She loved it!

I would definately ask a cast member if they do anything about lost teeth, but don't depend on it. You should bring something just in case it doesn't work out
