Whoa. Telling a woman that she can now wear hoop earrings no larger than a dime and allowing her the option of slingback shoes is hardly a loosening of standards. Don't worry. Women are still told what colors of eyeshadow, lipstick, and nail polish they may wear. They are still told only one ring per finger, only one earring per ear. Hosiery is still mandatory. Underwear and deodorant are still mandatory. The grooming guidelines have only slightly been relaxed.
As to moustaches, when it was amended to allow them you could not grow them on company time. I guess they expected everyone to grow their facial hair on vacation or maybe extremely hirsute men could do it in a weekend. The company thought scraggly facial hair would ruin the show for guests.
And the cornrows can only come to the collar, must be neat, tightly braided and straight. Allowing young men a clean, presentable, and fashionable option that is still above ears and collars, as per grooming guidelines, is not something to get worked into a lather about. Dreadlocks, mohawks, designs shaved into buzzcuts and long hair are still out for men.
