Loose Tooth!

At what age do children begin to lose their baby teeth? DD 5, who will be 6 on Saturday, has 2 teeth right beside each other that are wiggling a little. She's excited but I'm worried. Is this too young? We took her to the dentist last month and the dentist said her teeth were impecable, so I know we've been taking good care of them. Someone please assure me that everything is fine!

My dd started Kindergarten missing 2, and after that they POPPED POPPED POPPED. She is 7, and has lost 9.

I think it depends on when they started growing in. Does not sound early to me..

Every child is different!! I had all of my "big teeth" by the time I was your daughters age. I had all of my baby teeth at my moms 6 week check up!! DS is 5 3 months and he hasn't lost any. My nephew who is 6 3 months, just had to have his first 2 pulled. He big teeth were growing in behind his baby teeth, therefore...they weren't pushing out the baby teeth. My mom happened to notice this.

My dd lost her first tooth on Christmas Eve. She turned 6 today. So no, it's not too young. I have a friend whose dd has already lost a few teeth and she just turned 5.

Mine turned 6 in November and her two bottom have come out just in the last 2 weeks. BUT everything else is solid and no signs of more for a while.

All her friends the same age have lost like 6 already though. I was told it corrasponds with how early/fast/slow/late their baby teeth came in.

My girls both lost some that early.

My youngest lost a couple at age 5, and then they just started coming out really quickly, and close together. It did take over a year, to get some of them back. I worried a little aabout that, but all is well now.

It's definitely not too young. My DS (who turned 6 last month) has already lost 4 teeth and the replacements have fully come in.

The tooth fairy came to our house just last night. She has been a regular visitor since last November.

Hannah turned 6 Sept 2 (05) and lost her two bottom front teeth on the day before Thanksgiving and on Thanksgiving day. She lost another bottom tooth a few months later. She lost her two top front teeth in December / January and another bottom tooth yesterday.

Emily turned 6 August 27, and lost her front bottom teeth in December.

Our dentist said once a tooth becomes wiggly, you should have your child wiggle it as much as he/she is comfortable. He also said that they tend to fall out just like they came in. If they came in early, they will start falling out early.

My kids are always concerned they are going to lose or swallow their teeth once they are really loose, so they beg DH to pull them. He can't get a good hold of them because small. So he has them bite gently on a washcloth or towel, and pulls it gently out of their mouths, the tooth comes right out. If the tooth bleeds, they drink some milk and spit it out a few times, and it stops.

Yup, there's quite a range of "normal" with regard to losing baby teeth. If I recall correctly, her dentist said 5-7 is average, with 4 and 8 not uncommon.

A week before Christmas my dd (5) went to the dentist for a regular checkup. The Dentist said her two bottom teeth where loose but probably won`t come out until she is 6 maybe 7. Two weeks later they both came out .

Now the sad part of the story is: The day they came out my dd teacher yelled at her for wiggling her teeth in school. So when they fell out later that day. My dd was afraid to tell her because she thought she would get in trouble. So she got rid of them. When she got home and told me the story I called the toothfairy and explained what happened. She understood and visited my dd that night.

Seems normal to me. I lost two when I turned 5 and then two more 6 months later.

The erlier they came in the earlier they come out. Although 5 is not early, but average I think. Usually the bottom front ones come out in Kindergarten, then the ones on each side of them, then in first grade the top front come out creating the First Grade Smile.

dd 6 lost two when she was 5 and in K before christmas of 2005. The two bottom ones. then nothing until she got into 1st grade and the next two bottom teeth fell out. and then on christmas eve her two front teeth fell out. Nothing loose yet.

Nope, not early at all.
My son lost his 1st one 1 month before his 5th birthday! Then they fell out pretty much one after another after that.
He is now 7 years old and has lost a total of 12 of his baby teeth.

Yes, my son got his 1st tooth at a young age (4 months old, had a full set of baby teeth by his 1st birthday!)

The dentist said my son is on the early side of losing baby teeth. He said most lose between 5-7 years old, but some as early as 4 and some as late as 8!

My sister was born with 2 teeth, she had to have them pulled at 9 days old!

I'm a director at a preschool and I have lots of four year olds and five year olds with loose teeth.
