Just before we left for our Easter trip, we decided to gather together all the loose change laying around the house. Figuring we could use this for souvineers and such. we raided all the "junk" drawers and my "after work, clean out my pockets" change cup.

GRAND TOTAL: $104.76! Who knew a hundred bucks was just laying around the house:confused3 ! We got all the folks back home something fun and had money left over for a water color print of our resort (CSR). Now we are more aware of spare change and keep it in one big bucket!

Anybody else try this and how much did you find?!

My DH never spends his change and about once a year I roll it and take it to the bank. It usually amounts to between one and two hundred dollars and is a great surprise. Although....he never offers to roll the stuff !! :confused3 It's a great way to save for a rainy day or a DW trip!

I dont know yet....
I have a tin where I put extra money (coins & paper). Whenever there is a significant amount of paper, I buy Disney Dollars with it. As for the change, Ill wait until the can is full and take it in for counting; and that too will be turned into Disney Dollars
FWIW, as of today I have already bought $135 DD's and there is still 18 months until the cruise. Add this to whatever points I accumulate on my Disney Visa (52 so far) and we should end up with a good amount of $$$ for shopping, dining and whatever.

My DH saves all his change too. It's been over a year since we spent it, so we decided to hand roll it all for our Disney trip (the machines at the grocery store just take too much of your profit). We came up with a little over $400!!! We're applying that to the dining part of our tickets! Yeah, free food! :)

Here in New Jersey, Commerce Bank offers the change counting machine for free! Otherwise I would roll it myself too! The grocery store gets enough of my $$

We save our change every day for the trip to WDW in Feb. It helps with souviengers and tips. I love it.

I started a "disney bank" for my 3 year old great nephew. Each day when he comes to stay with me he brings in his "bank money". He has been doing this for about a month. We sorted and rolled it yesterday - he has $34!! Remind you - he is 3 years old so this is the loose change he "finds" around his house each day!! My sister couldn't believe how much the "mis" placed change has added up to! She joked and said by the time the trip gets here he will have more money then them!!! It does add up quickly.

We started doing this several years ago. However, I don't just use change found around the house. The tip I had read was to always pay a bill in paper and take the loose change and put it in a jar. I have one at work and one at home. By doing this, I also found that my purse is a lot lighter:lmao:

When the jar is filled I take it to the bank (as noted above, we have Commerce Bank in the area and they have a machine that will count it and they don't charge a fee) and we take our money and buy Disney Dollars. A full jar can be worth well over $100 each time and we can usually fill it up several times before our next trip!!! We use it for those extras and for souvenirs.

When we went to Disney this past Dec. we had a empty water cooler jug full with coins. When we cashed it in it was a surprising $500:cool1: This allowed us to go to MVMCP as well as have dinner at LTT and order DS a cake to celebrate his b-day:cheer2:

This is the easiest way to save money. I have a giant coin bank (approx. 3 feet tall) in the shape of an old-fashioned Coca-Cola can. It took me nearly 3 years to fill it, but once it was filled, it had $1200 in it. Not bad!

we have this bottle with a counter built into the top of the lid (from discovery channel online store, $15, called "amazing money jar bank") - almost $60 already, over the past 3 weeks! (love how you push the coins into the slot on top, and the LED shows the amount the jar has inside!) :)
