We just got back from a 10 day stay - WONDERFUL time! We LOVE staying in teh 1500 loop, but got 2000 this time with our TT. A little disappointed (yes spoiled) but we did end up loving our site. During our stay, we (acutally the kids) noticed a tent set up in 2003. That's it...only a tent. Once during the 10 days we saw a van, but no shoes/towels hanging around/footprints etc at all. We found it to be a little curious....anyone know anything??

We were there Sept.- Oct. of last year and noticed something similar in the same loop. It was in 2005 I believe there was a tent or van, can't remember, but we never noticed anyone around, even in the evening. We thought they must like getting to the parks early and staying late, like we do, but at our site something is always different 'cause of the kids, DD5 and DD13, never a vehicle at site, for we drive to the parks everyday. :drive: It was pretty easy to notice the van or tent because after the weekend I believe there was only 3 other people in the loop at the time. Maybe the Fort puts it there so we won't feel lonely in a empty loop. :rotfl2:

107 days till our next trip to the Fort!

If I had to take a guess, Luv2DressEmUp, I would say that is someone who rented the campsite as a cheap way to get free theme park parking and the Extra Hours benefit for resort guests but they stayed in a cheaper off-site accomodation. At least they had the decency to put up a tent so it looks occupied.

It might be cost-effective but even if it's not we have people that come to this board asking if they can do this. I am surprised at the number of folks who make a big deal about the Extra Hours. All the guide books recommend not going to a theme park with the Extra Hours that day because it is usually crowded (See the Unofficial Guide to WDW). It used to get me agitated but I don't sweat it anymore. They're gonna do what they're gonna do. The only time I might have a problem is if the Fort is VERY full and it keeps a "real" camper from getting a site. :crazy2:

When you saw the van, they might have come by the Fort to use the shower or use the pool (well, they're paying for it). At least they didn't party long and loud at night and keep you awake.

we also were in the 2000 loop the first week of June and had something similar. We were in the very last site, not quite sure the number. But right across from us was a tent. Noone ever came in or out, no shoes, towels, chairs. Dh and I both thought it was quite strange and then we suspected what BamaEd has mentioned.

In some ways, I wish that they could make it so you had to swipe you KTTW each bathroom trip so they could notice patterns and whatnot. But that gets a bit muddled with the people who has baths in their MH. IDK, but I hope they get something done soon about all of these phony reservations.

If they required that I would get flagged as you said I use my motorhome and never the bathhouse. And depending on the trip I may or may not use the laundry facilities either.

We had a similar experience last November (week after Thanksgiving) when we were at the 1500 loop. In the camp sit across from us was a tent with a woman and three kids. They were there the first day when we checked in, and then we didn't see them for a few days. Their car was gone, but the tent was still set up, and the kid's bikes and scooters were still there, as well as towels and clothes hung on a close line, and other camping gear left at their camp site. They showed up three or four days later, but then left again the following day. We left before seeing them again.
