So we've checked in for flight M636 to Amsterdam which is scheduled to take off at 19.30 (Florida time) this evening BUT no-one knows where it will actually land! Might be Amsterdam, but could be any airport in Europe accepting flights. Wonder where we'll wake up tomorrow morning? Fingers crossed for Glasgow! :lmao:

Have a safe flight, and hope you land not too far from home:thumbsup2

You might be in luck :lmao: Scotland and Newcastle are accepting flights from 7am and Manchester from 10am tomorrow.
Good luck. Let us know where you end up :)

Ooooh i see your flying Martinair, we're booked with them in August. It would be cool if you could let us know your experience with them when your back and settled!

Good luck :thumbsup2
and I agree, let us know where you end up...hopefully it will be where you want :goodvibes

Safe journey :) Hope you land somewhere close to home.

hope you have safe flight home and are back in your own home very soon :goodvibes

You're VERY lucky. :goodvibes The MCO-AMS flight is one of only 4 flights that will fly to AMS today. Globally that is, with only one flight originating from MCO. Three flights have left AMS earlier this evening (New York, Dubai and Shanghai), nothing else for the whole day. Hope you'll have a very uneventfull flight and can start doing some unpacking and laundry back home soon. :thumbsup2:laundy:

Looks like the worst is over though. Tomorrow Scottish airspace is reopening as is that of North-England. AMS will start operating again with KLM doing no less than 50 intercontinental flights and hopefully about 50% of normal EU flights.

LH is at this very moment flying 50 planes back to Germany, getting no less than 15.000 folks back home this evening/early tomorrow morning.

EU has decided to start operating a so called 3 zones airspace. Zone 1; all airspace closed. Zone 2; a certain amount of flights can operate, under heigthened inspections and where need be altered flight plans. Zone 3; for all of those not impacted. This is a big chance, as a lot of airports could probably make use of Zone2. Officially Eurocontrol wont be announcing which airport is which zone until tomorrow morning 8 am but as this evening is already showing; airlines, airports and countries gouvernments have started acting on it already.

And preferably in a country where English is well spoken and understood ;) I have to say that Amsterdam is my favourite international airport so if you are delayed somewhere, as opposed to coming directly to UK soil, let's hope that Amsterdam is the one for you. :goodvibes Have a safe flight home. I still can't really get my head around this. Of all the darn things .... a volcano?!?:!

Great news! Have a safe (an uneventful) trip home! :)

I've just looked at the the Amsterdam Airport Arrivals page and it says the MP636 from Orlando last night was cancelled :sad2:. Looks like Tony didn't get home today. Hope you get back soon and didn't have to spend the night at the airport .

The info is a bit confusing, but it did land!

MP 1636 Orlando 10:05 Arrived 11:21
MP 0636 Orlando 10:05 Cancelled

As you can see there has been some renumbering going on. Probably has to do with the fact that Martinair themselves haven't been flying yet themselves yesterday evening and this flight was carried out by KLM operating under MP's number and name (MP is a daughter of KLM).

At the moment apparently a lot of flights of codeshare partners are being operated by KLM material instead of the planned codeshare airline. Has to do with KLM having more planes in the right places (especially for those departing at AMS).

Getting back to the UK from AMS is another thing, though. Today only 2 flights will depart AMS for the UK, one to Liverpool and one to Birmingham. All other UK-bound flights are cancelled. Not the greatest odds to get to the UK, allthough Tony has a major benefit over all of those that have been stranded from the beginning. Priority will be given to those on their way at the moment and/or with booked tickets for the following days. Those already waiting will be added next. That leaves Tony with a couple of hundred, perhaps thousands after them. ;)

Thanks for the update :thumbsup2. Hopefully he (and all the others) will be back in Blighty soon enjoying a cuppa!

Thanks for all your kind thoughts and good wishes everyone. It really cheers us up as we're waiting for a bus back to Glasgow at Birmingham having been on the go for quite some time now to say the least. :confused3 Due in to Glasgow at about 8pm this evening. FUll details to follow.
