Couldn't get a studio for anything more than 1 night at the 11-month mark for home resort (Copper Creek). Bummer.

Not gonna lie.. I had some slight buyer's remorse when I joined DVC and went to check out Q4 availability and it was SCARCE. But I figured.. okay.. I can adjust my planning habits and get on the 11-month train (usually more of a casual planner since I'm a FL resident).

I've heard studios are hard to get but YIKES. Not even the morning of the 11-month mark?

Given 11 months from now is early December, and that WDW will be celebrating it's 50th anniversary with many new rides and attractions, I'm not surprised. I would keep trying, in case something opens up...people may be walking for later in December, but early December is very popular time with members, especially those who don't have to work around school breaks, or are willing to pull their kids from school for a trip when the parks are in Christmas mode, but not as busy as during the normal Christmas school break. Good luck!

Don’t forget to put in a waitlist as well, There may be other CCV owners who will want to trade out come 7 months and being on the waitlist this early will help with that.

But, continue to keep an eye on things and if tomorrow, you can get today...due to walkers, pick it up. People have had success getting what they want as walkers dropped rooms.

Sure, a pain, but at least it might help you still get what you want.

I agree that reserve walking (Picking up the dates walkers drop) every morning can be successful. I've done this in June for AKV 2 brdrm value villas.
Availability at Riviera is also almost impossible for Deluxe Standard View Studios in Dec. These rooms are gone in a couple seconds of open every morning.
I've never wait listed successfully but I know others have on these boards.

For Riviera, go on a waitlist and keep trying. I read where only about 30% of the resort has been declared (transferred to DVC for sale/booking). As more inventory is declared, more rooms will become available.

I needed from after thanksgiving thru first week of December @ AKV.

Naturally, wanted a value studio hahahaha. Have had success up until this point. Res were o b v iously being walked since I started to check after returning from our early Oct trip.

Having a Dec UY just complicates the whole process this go ‘round

Trying to piece it together, along with a waitlist. Worst case when it gets closer may wind up either booking something onsite or the whole period at WBC (love) if I can snag a decently priced rental thru the agency we use

CCV seems particularly bad for studio availability. They sold a LOT of points against the availability in those cabins.

I bought CCV for studios mainly for December. But then we tried a 2 bedroom and will probably never book another studio December is our family trip and a studio will never work then. I guess I am saying that I will do my part to book elsewhere

Join us at the Poly, it won't the Christmas cabin feel; but there's studio availability for months.

I know not everyone has the time or desire to do so but piece it together day by day. That along with the waitlist will probably lead to success this early on.

Haha. Thanks for the invite! I love the Poly. But that's the thing.. I've never stayed at Wilderness Lodge and I know it's supposed to be great at Christmastime. It's hard to get into even non-DVC during that time of year, which is why I chose it as my home resort.

I grabbed the 1-bedroom for less nights but I'll see what's up at the 7-month mark.

For the December 2020 (1st week) the other couple decided to book their own studio at CCV and we booked a 2BR, bringing our son and his family. It has been a struggle for them trying to book a studio. They have managed to book a day or two and using wait list.

Yes, or you have to book it as two separate reservations online. I often cross my June use year with trips the end of May/first part of June.

I and others on here predicted many disgruntled CCV buyers, locked out of studio availability, when we saw points distribution on launch of the resort. With the implementation of the modify system and 2 minute job to walk, it’s the perfect storm which will only get worse as people think if I can’t beat them, I’ll join them.
I think DVC will eventually have to adjust the modify system, to say 1 or 2 modifications only per booking, only other alternative after that is waitlist or cancel.
Copper Creek is unique though in just how bad it’s studio non availability is- even 1 beds are difficult to score there peak times.

I doubt cancelling and rebooking rather than modifying would solve much. There is no "single" thing that can be pointed to as the true problem. It would clearly give an advantage to those with a higher number of points...as they would simply book what they wanted (if available) before cancelling their existing reservation. Which, in turn, would mean more people wanting to buy more points resale. That is not in the best interest of direct sales. Another factor, IMO, is the growing number of small contracts, and people buying "just enough" with no buffer, leading to increased competition for studios.
