I finally get DH to come with us for a quick trip (he's really not a disney guy) and I just happen to see this today :scared1:
Taken from Al Lutz on Micechat:
Editor's Note 6/20: After a delightful Sat. with very light crowds due to all the blockouts, the Annual Passholders descend in huge numbers again Sun. - Tue. to see World of Color. Mon. June 21 is now projected as one of the highest attendance days in years. All of those Disneyland managers that were sent to DCA last week to rescue the overwhelmed team won't be around however, so now it's time for the DCA crew to prove they can handle the Disneyland-sized World of Color crowd control on their own. It would be wise to avoid visiting the Resort through Tue. if at all possible. - Al Lutz

I am thankful that we will have MM Tuesday so we can hit the park early before the crouds flood in. That will teach me to not check the blockout dates before booking a trip. :sad2:

We'll be there too. I'm not expecting much when we arrive Monday afternoon. Gonna go with the flow...but we'll get their bright an early for MM on Tues. just like you are. Luckily we have Wed. & Thurs. too so I'm hoping it will calm down those days.
Oh and there are 2 big conventions going on that week too.

Good thing for MM!! This is our annual end of school trip.. This year they get out on a Monday :confused3 We aren't really planning anything special other than just being together. We are avoiding WOC all together and plan on taking advantage of the pool and maybe hitting the AMC for a movie.

I'd make sure you get there before opening every day; most Southern California AP-holders won't be there then and you'll have a good hour or two before the parks get really busy. I find getting there early in the morning is much better than staying until close; much of the park is still pretty briskly attended late at night.

If you keep up on your FPs you can be set for the evening, too. If you take a mid-afternoon break, I would sure you leave yourselves plenty of time to get back into the park, in case they're restricting entry.

If you're up on which FPs to get first and which to get later (Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear can wait), you'll be in even better shape.

There are a lot of uncrowded things to do when all else fails. All the 3-D shows are fine, and the Main Street Cinema and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln will be almost empty. The Tiki Room, Tom Sawyer Island, Sleeping Beauty's Castle Walkthrough, Innoventions, and probably the Animation building in DCA should be OK too, and of course you can always see the Aladdin show. :)

If sit-down meals are (or can be) in your budget, I'd reserve a couple of those. Eating at the Carnation Cafe is only a few bucks more than getting, say, a cafeteria-style Mexican food meal in the parks (similar menu prices but you have to add a tip)...but at the Carnation Cafe, you'd get to sit down and relax for a while. And the restaurants are almost as busy when the park is full, as when the park is fairly lightly attended.

If sit-down restaurants are not in your budget, then I'd try to work in some down time, even if it's just sitting on Tom Sawyer's Island.

Of course, I'd RATHER go at an uncrowded time, but you can still have a great trip. My friend who really did no planning at all went around this time last year, which was also right before AP blockouts hit (if you read MiceAge from a year ago you can see the nightmare scenarios he posted). Even worse, when my friend told me about her trip, I found she did all sorts of things that made me want to rip my hair out, like wait 30 minutes for Peter Pan's Flight even though she was staying on-site and had access to all the Magic Mornings! But she and her family had the best time! So crowds are just one factor. I would ALWAYS recommend planning, but if you go with the flow (though preferably with some planning! ) you can still have a great time!

Wendy I feel your pain. WE are arriving TODAY so we won't even GET there till prob around 10 or 11 and I am thinking will there even BE any fp's left by the time we get there. UGH!! But we aren't doing WOC till Wed. Today we are just going to do what we can and probably if it gets too nuts we will just do stuff like go to the island or do innoventions or stuff that isn't popular. Maybe see Billy Hill. I don't know. We have ressies at the bbq for dinner and we are going to have to see the fireworks tonight because we want to do Glowfest tomorrow, WOC wednesday and Thursday is Grad night plus we have dinner ressies so prob won't come back to the park. And then we leave on Fri. :(

We too plan to do the MM's on Tues and Thur to try and get in as much as possible!

Maybe we will see you guys tomorrow morning or if you are totally disgusted today maybe we can all meet for a drink in frustration LOL. ;)

We are arriving Wednesday when hopefully the worst of it will be behind us!
I always say a bad day at Disneyland beats a good day just about anywhere else! :goodvibes

True Lisa! Heck sitting on a park bench and watching the crowds at DL is better than being anywhere else I say! ;)

I had to bring my backpack for my new camera. My mickey is on my other bag. But look for a mom a grandma and 2 girls. 1 red head. Girls pics in my siggie. Say hi. :)

We arrive Tuesday morning. We'll probably just try to do the "filler" stuff at DL that day. I think we'll try to see the 3:30 parade too. I only anticipate spending from about 12:00 to about 4:30 in the parks. Then we have a 5:00 Goofy's reservation.

Did you make sure to get your park bench reservations 60 days in advance? :rotfl2:

Sorry, couldn't resist. Have a great time!

We should be there this afternoon and going straight to the DLH to check in.we might see you in the morning. Tammy and I are for sure coming down on Thursday! I will see you soon for sure..
Even if its packed we will be @ the Happiest Place on Earth!

Last Week Monday & Tuesday were much busier than Wed/Thu. The only good thing about that was it convinced the rest of my party to get up at 5:30 for EE at 7am both days! 7-11 on tuesday was heavenly in DL....on Wed 7-9 was great & then we went to DCA at 9:30 which was busy, but not as bad as DL.

I will keep my eyes open for you! :goodvibes

I was hoping someone who was there yesterday might have posted -- anyone? :confused3

My friend took her son for the afternoon. She said it wasn't THAT bad in the park, but she had to park her car in the boonies (all the way out by the convention center) and take an Anaheim city transit trolley over! It took her a LONG time to get in the park. She said it was crowded, but they got a lot of rides in in a short period of time.

WOW!!! Having to park that far just sounds scary. I think I would have turned around at that point. Good for her for sticking to it and it working out.

It really is amazing how the days fluctuate with the evil AP holders (like DBF and myself, hehe). We're Premium APers and we went on Friday night and it wasn't crowded at all! A Friday night! Unbelievable! :confused3

By halfway through the second day with friends this weekend, Bench in the Shade was my new favorite ride.

Friday and Saturday were surprisingly not bad. Didn't seem more crowded than another other recent weekend. We only fastpassed Soaring, Indy, Screamin', and Space Mountain (some multiple times). Everything else we wanted to do was short enough to do between FP recharges. I figure lots of locals were waiting until Sunday to take dad out.
