We had a family support meeting tonight and a few people mentioned that maybe our guys would come home more quickly since things have gone well. The Marine Captain in charge of the families told us that "their orders are for a year, and I'd expect nothing less." She told us that there is no way our military will send a new unit in to do the job when our guys are already there and know what needs to be done. Even though they are Reservists, we should expect them to be gone the full year.

So, I was hoping MAYBE later this summer, but it now looks like I'll have to get through his birthday (September) and the holidays without him. :(

I so appreciate his sacrifice. I appreciate your sacrifice too.

The Prayers will keep going !!

MAY GOD BLESS AND PROTECT OUR TROOPS!!

{{{{HUGS}}}} and prayers, thank you so much for your sacrafice. Be sure to thank him for us too. :D

I'm so sorry to hear the news. I know I would be very disappointed too if Bobby were my son! Heck, I'm disappointed & I don't even know him!

When in September is his b-day? Mine is the 18th. Do we celebrate the same day?

Patty, Bobby's sacrifice is truly appreciated. And I also appreciate the sacrifice of all our wonderful military families. {{{HUGS}}} for you. My prayers are with you all.

Patty,

I know this is very hard news to hear. As others said it is very much appreciated by many of us. The sacrifice that everyone is making is great, but it is appreciated.

We'll just have to keep those care packages coming, especially in September!

Patty, I've so looked forward to your posts about your son's unit, though I'm mostly a lurker here! The last we heard from my cousin who is with the 1st Marine Exped. was back on March 15....so no news is perhaps good news at this time. Your posts help me see a little of what it must be like for Joshua.

My brother's bday is just a few days before Bobby's...we'll put a candle on the cake just for him.

As the wife of an active duty AF officer, I'm very used to deployments and TDYs. He's never been gone for a year though. He was in the Gulf war and gone for six months on that one. Normal deployments are for 3 to 4 months. I pity the poor Navy wives who regularly go through six month floats. My father went to Vietnam and was gone for 18 months.

I know this isn't going to make you feel much better, but think of those people who's husbands were deployed for several years in WWII?

Hang in there. You know, they're probably giving you a worst case scenario, that way they don't have to back peddle. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Thank you, Patty, Bobby and all who are serving, along with their families. A tough time it is, and so much appreciated.

Patty, This is bad news. We've been debating the likelihood of them sending Titus' unit home soon and I know Ashli has had her hopes up about it. I did keep telling her though that when my dad and brothers were deployed to Saudi during desert storm that they didn't get to come home early even though they got there right before the ground war started so the whole war was over two weeks after they arrived. They didn't have much work to do so they were very bored for several months. This time it looks like they will have a lot more work to do so I understand why they might keep them quite awhile.

Disnee Dad Says..............................Robert will be ok, I only hope you can keep your heart from bursting with pride!!! Your son is "the man", our hero!

{{HUGS}} Patty. I appreciate all your DH is doing and all your sacrifices as well... also all those in the military and their families as well.

I'm sorry. It must be very hard to be going through this for both you and Bobby. The remainder of the year will be tough. Saying a prayer for his continued safety and a quicker return.

I am so sorry. I did not realize he was a reservist. When DH was in the Gulf War he was active duty. They told us at least a year, it was 5 months.
I "think" they activate reservist for a year and do tend to keep them as it is harder to retrain a reservist group. I imagine they may rotate the active duty troops out sooner, though who knows!
DH is reservist now and he had mobilized all his soldiers that were being activated by Feb., and it was for 1 year. No more have been requested. He would probably know the logistics of this reasoning if I ask.
I do know after the Gulf War, the area was still considered "combat zone" for several years. So much to do to protect and keep what they have fought for. We had friends deploy there afterward who were not in the fighting faze.
Our prayers are with you all.

Patty, we sooooo much appreciate the sacrifice that Bobby and your family are making. I have no idea what you're going thru, but please know that Bobby is always in my prayers. {{hugs}}
