I'm looking into starting a travel business & will need to sell my DVC to pay for the startup fee. I contacted the Timeshare Store & was shocked at the 12% fee (they're running a special for 10% now).

Anyone have any ideas of other avenues to use to sell. Also, is now a good time to sell?

Any info appreciated - thanks

Listing through ebay or the Timeshare Users Group (TUG) is often suggested as a viable alternative.

myresortnetwork charges a per listing fee now. Redweeks has a yearly fee but are going to a perlisting fee in a month from what I hear. TUG charges a per listing fee (3 months) but you get a free listing if you join, $15 for year one. There are other similar sites. bidshares.com is an auction site where you only pay if you reach an agreement or hit the reserve price and it's $50 if you do sell.

Thanks for all the info. I did check out the various sites, but noticed the Timeshare Store also lists on them.

I'm wondering if it is just an easier way to go with the Timeshare store & pay the commission, especially since I don't have a clue about how to handle closing, etc, etc. But on 230 pts., it does seem like alot of money.

This company appears to provide the documentation support you might be looking for.... I've never sold a timeshare, and I can't vouch for their service.

We're using Timeshare Transfer. They charge $250, which includes up to $50 for the recording fee. They will prepare the Deed, collect and disburse the funds, send the Deed for recording and then send the recorded Deed to DVC for the transfer. Very no frills though. You will have to draw up a sales contract b/n you and the buyer and submit that to DVC for ROFR. Once you get the waiver back from DVC, you will then forward it to TT with a copy of the Deed. They do not overnight the documents nor provide an overnight slip. They also assume the buyer and seller have done their own due diligence.
