Looking to make $1000.00 per month

I am a stay at home mom that homeschools our 4 children. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do from home to make about $1000.00 per month. I can probably dedicate about 20 hours per week.

Unfortunately I don't really have any good ideas for you, but I did want to post and suggest that your expectations might be a little high... $1000 a month works out to $12,000 a year or $230 a week. If you're only working 20 hours a week that's $11.50 an hour... and that's not counting anything for taxes... if you wanted to pocket $1000 a month it would be even more.

Not to be too pessimistic, but I think you're going to have a hard time finding a part time home based business that will pay $11.50 an hour.

If you have work experience, and a good computer setup at home you can look at companies that hire telecommuters doing work like customer service, order taking and that sort of thing. Several years back I worked for Alpine Access for a long time and through them I did customer service and orders for companies like The Disney Store, 1-800-Flowers, Ticketmaster and stuff like that.

Last I heard, 1-800-Flowers hires directly now, ACD Direct is another company where you take calls from the PBS stations during pledge drives - I worked for them for a while and it was fun, easy work. There are lots of companies you can check out.

Have you thought about doing some in home daycare for before and after school children? I am not sure what the going rate is in your area but in mine I factored 3 kids would make me $45 a day for a few hrs of work.

DW was a stay at home mom when our kids were younger, and when they reached school age she landed a job as a School Bus Driver. She was very concerned about going back into the workforce after being out for 7 or so years, as her resume didn't have any recent history, but they hired her right away. There was not really any impossible job requirements (degree's, etc), other than a clean driving record and background checks. They paid for all the training, and she started at about $14.50 an hour. DS and DD ride the bus route with her in the AM, and she drives about 3 hours in the morning, comes home for a 5 hour break, does 3 or so hours in the afternoon. Her monthly total is a little lower than the wage/hours calculation because they use stretch pay so she get's paid on her 3 month summer break, snow days, and holiday breaks as well. It's great since we don't have to use daycare, and now that she is a school employee there is extra work for her in other areas if she chooses to make a few extra bucks.

I remember when she started and she thought "How am I going to learn to drive one of these 30 foot monsters around". Now she swings it around like a pro. She never would have thought this is what she'd be doing in a million years, but she loves the kids on her bus, and get's time with our kids as well. Plus I gotta admit, she's a better driver than I am

The other good thing is that now that she has her Class B license, her employment is pretty bulletproof since transportation drivers are always in need. If I could just get her to take a job as a bus driver at WDW...

I recently got invited to a "Thirty One" party. It is basically different totes, purses, duffle bags, etc. They come in all kind of colors, patterns, shapes and sizes. At least where we live, there is nothing around like it. It is similar to Mary Kay, Pampered Chef in that you host parties, but since it is relatively new, people tend to buy a lot. You might want to look into that. The lady who is selling it that I know is making a lot of money since no one has anything like it. Their website is:

I have been doing inbound call center sales for LiveOps and several other companies for the past few years. It has really helped supplement our income. You get paid per minute and occasionally from some sales. There are several other companies that have work at home call centers jobs/ I mostly work early morning and while the kids are at school plus on the weekends. Weekends is where the real money is at.

You got that right. I sold Mary Kay and while I did well, I work a heck of a lot more than 20 hours a week. Friday nights and Saturday nights were always work nights because that was the best time to host parties. Not knocking it but definitely was almost a full time job.

I have found a network of professional organizers in my city. Once they declutter a client, they contact me to sell their extra stuff on ebay or craigslist. In March, I made $900 and in April I made $1300 (which was a huge month!). I do it in my own time and have learned alot about what rich people like/buy!!! Good luck!
