Looking to make $1000.00 per month

I have found a network of professional organizers in my city. Once they declutter a client, they contact me to sell their extra stuff on ebay or craigslist. In March, I made $900 and in April I made $1300 (which was a huge month!). I do it in my own time and have learned alot about what rich people like/buy!!! Good luck!

Hi, that's very interesting. May I ask-do you pay them a lump sum for all the "stuff" and you keep all the profit? Do you go in and pick and choose what you want to sell? Just wondering how it works. Thanks!!!!:goodvibes

I take their items, research them, take photos and list. I keep 30% of the sales price. From that, I pay the ebay and paypal fees, so I really make about 20%. I only sell GOOD stuff, so it's worth it! I also handle the shipping, so I make a few bucks on each package as well...

I have been scoring for Pearson testing services from home.

To be honest, it isn't really my cup of tea and I am not sure I will continue. I also homeschool and was looking to earn some income.

DH laughed when I told him I was doing the scoring. He hit the nail on the head when his first response was, "The only thing you ever complained about when you were a teacher was grading papers, and now you want an entire job grading papers?" :rotfl:

You probably already do this, but I feel that my contribution to the family, for now, is to save several hundred dollars each month.

We have cut almost everywhere we can cut.....cell phone is lower, cable is lower, grocery budget is way lower, I coupon, I shop only thrift stores for clothing for the kids, etc.....

If I really needed to work, I would go back to work outside the home.

OP homeschools and wants to work from home. I am glad for your wife, but this doesn't answer the OP question.

DW was a stay at home mom when our kids were younger, and when they reached school age she landed a job as a School Bus Driver. She was very concerned about going back into the workforce after being out for 7 or so years, as her resume didn't have any recent history, but they hired her right away. There was not really any impossible job requirements (degree's, etc), other than a clean driving record and background checks. They paid for all the training, and she started at about $14.50 an hour. DS and DD ride the bus route with her in the AM, and she drives about 3 hours in the morning, comes home for a 5 hour break, does 3 or so hours in the afternoon. Her monthly total is a little lower than the wage/hours calculation because they use stretch pay so she get's paid on her 3 month summer break, snow days, and holiday breaks as well. It's great since we don't have to use daycare, and now that she is a school employee there is extra work for her in other areas if she chooses to make a few extra bucks.

I remember when she started and she thought "How am I going to learn to drive one of these 30 foot monsters around". Now she swings it around like a pro. :thumbsup2 She never would have thought this is what she'd be doing in a million years, but she loves the kids on her bus, and get's time with our kids as well. Plus I gotta admit, she's a better driver than I am

The other good thing is that now that she has her Class B license, her employment is pretty bulletproof since transportation drivers are always in need. If I could just get her to take a job as a bus driver at WDW... :rolleyes1

I have been doing inbound call center sales for LiveOps and several other companies for the past few years. It has really helped supplement our income. You get paid per minute and occasionally from some sales. There are several other companies that have work at home call centers jobs/ I mostly work early morning and while the kids are at school plus on the weekends. Weekends is where the real money is at.

I work FT outside of the home but can vouch for the PP about LiveOps and doing inbound sales calls. The pay is decent and flexible. Good luck finding something.

From one to another, I started driving when I realized I would break even after working 40 hours a week and paying daycare & health insurance for myself. I love my job (most days). Now if I lived in FL, that would be awesome to drive for disney, atleast I would have ac. Needless to say, I can park that bus straighter than my mini van anytime:rolleyes1

OP, I think the idea of in home daycare (even before & after school) would be something to think about. There is def money there. Good Luck.

OP, do you have any marketable skills from previous employment that you can turn into freelance work?

You would be surprised at what you can make doing bookkeeping, copywriting, editing, marketing, PR, web design, graphic design, social networking, etc. for small business owners who do not have the ability (cash flow/work load) to hire someone full or even part time on their own staff.

I have a normal M-F 9-5 job, but on the side I do freelance work contracting out. All my work is from word of mouth recommendations.

I find that I can charge far more (I bill by the hour) than the business would be willing to pay if they were going to be hiring a staffer to do the work.

Remember that there is a whole different world when it comes to the taxing for independent contractors. Before you begin any new venture I would suggest you look at the tax liability and how to maximize your expenses.

It is absolutely possible to make 1000.00 or more working from home. Google workplacelikehome and check out the things you might be interested in. I work for 2 companies, Arise and Working solutions and average anywhere from 14-19.00 per hour. If you can type and have a decent computer and great customer service skills (which basically means are you nice...lol) you can do it.

Unfortunately I don't really have any good ideas for you, but I did want to post and suggest that your expectations might be a little high... $1000 a month works out to $12,000 a year or $230 a week. If you're only working 20 hours a week that's $11.50 an hour... and that's not counting anything for taxes... if you wanted to pocket $1000 a month it would be even more.

Not to be too pessimistic, but I think you're going to have a hard time finding a part time home based business that will pay $11.50 an hour.

I have to agree with this....especially in this economy alot of people working outside the home for an employer aren't being offered this anymore...be careful for those work from home offers too.....there are a lot of people taking advantage of others with scams

You got that right. I sold Mary Kay and while I did well, I work a heck of a lot more than 20 hours a week. Friday nights and Saturday nights were always work nights because that was the best time to host parties. Not knocking it but definitely was almost a full time job.

The beauty of a direct selling business is you can work the hours around your schedule. I have many friends that do very well and don't necessarily work every weekend or lots of weeknights. I work my business around my family and do quite well. Granted I do work about 30 hours a week because of the level of my business but a lot of that can be done after the kids go to bed (emails and such). I still have time during the week to do my Bible study and spend time in my kids' classes. It doesn't work out for everyone but it does work out for many.

Thank you-sounds good!

A woman at our church teaches homeschool lessons 3 days a week.
She does it from our church and has a very good turn out. You could teach music lessons or if you have a pool give swim lessons.
