Own 200 points at OKW with June UY. Looking to add on. What is the difficulty of each of these resorts to book at the 7 month window? We would vacay within 1st 2 weeks in August in a 1BR...maybe a 2BR. And what UY is best? TIA!!

1-BLT
2-BCV
3-BWV
4-HH

I personally think that the same UY works the easiest and best. Vacationing in August would be good with a June UY.

I do not think that the summer is a particularly hard time to get into a "different than home resort" at WDW. The exceptions may be standard villas at BLT and BWV (but I have gotten into a standard view 2 bedroom at 7 months there) and you may have to waitlist for a dedicated 2 bedroom with 2 queen beds at BCV if that's what you want.

Now HHI is different. They do not have many studios and 1 bedrooms, (maybe 25 of each) and many owners there want to vacation in the summer, but there have been some here who have called right at 7 months and got a villa.

PS. I own at 3 that you mention, HH, BWV and BCV. Of those, I use my points to book at HH and BCV during the summer. I use my BWV mostly for March and December ( NYE).

Looking to add onto our 200 OKW points. What is the difficulty of booking these resorts at the 7 month window (for July to early August trip in 1 BR or 2 BR):
1-HHI (had trouble getting resie here for the exact dates we wanted)
2-BLT
3-BCV (have not been able to get-tried twice)
4-BWV (gotten this twice in the past)

Edit to add: We aren't particular about view...prefer to use the least amount of points (hence the reason we put our fam of 5 in a 1 BR), but will take what we can get.

Hilton Head is very difficult to get at 7 months during the summer.

Beach Club is difficult to get at 7 months pretty much year-round.

BWV and BLT not terribly hard to get, but only the BWV Garden / Pool view and BLT Lake View. Other views more popular with owners and not likely at 7 mos.

That's the best answer I can give for such a broad question. In 10 minutes a poster may come along claiming he had "no problem" booking summer HHI or BWV Standard View, but overall I think such success is unlikely. Exact experiences will vary greatly from one week to the next, different room sizes, different years, etc.

Stick with the same UY and BCV tends to book early.

Buy where you love to stay and you should stay there before you buy.

Booking at 7 months will only become increasingly difficult as time goes on.

Thanks! We've stayed at BWV and love it there...have tried a couple times to get BCV, but couldn't...would love to stay there at some point. We also stayed at the Contep and that was awesome! Would love to try BLT. We got a 1 BR at HHI in July 2009, but couldn't get all the dates we wanted...got 4 or 5 nights of the week we wanted. My DH LOVES HHI and thinks it's an added bonus that when we vacay there we don't need to buy park tickets or dining plan. And HHI is a shorter drive by several hours. I think HHI is the winner.

I agree with the the others. To summarize:

In general, August is relatively easy to book a WDW DVC resort if you call as soon as your 7 month window opens. The standard view (BLT& BWV), MK view(BLT) and Boardwalk view (BWV) are unlikely to be available, however. You may have to waitlist to get into BCV. That pool is popular, LOL.

HH is very popular during the summer months. Getting anything for that time at the 7 month window is unlikely. It happens, but that is the exception more than the rule.

Look for your same use year. Much easier to keep track of and June is a good use year for August vacations.

I didn't think you could have 5 people in a 1 bedroom BWV?

They will let you book 5 in a 1 bedroom at BWV, but won't provide bedding. So if you have sleeping bag or can work out the sleeping arrangements, you can book 5 in a 1 bedroom there.

You can book a 1BR for 5 people at any of the DVC resorts...they just won't provide the 5th bedding, towels and such if there's not the pull-out chair for the 5th person. We always brought an air bed and sheets and towels for our DS.

Thanks, I didn't know that you can book 5 - might come in handy in the future.....
