Since I have a family of 5 and we are thinking of buying 160-200 points. I think resale is the way to go. How long does it usually take? What is the whole process? any info will help.

Wading into the resale waters myself and all the research I've done says the process takes about 8 weeks.

Alot will depend on how long Disney reviews it. But I would say 8-12 weeks
from the time the offer is accepted.
The process in brief.
If you are working with a realtor.
You find a listing.
You make an offer.
If seller accepts, you put a deposit.
Realtor gathers info and sends to Disney.
Disney reviews it. If they do not excerise their ROFR rights. They send it back to the realtor.
Realtor sets closing and performs more paperwork.
You send them money
Property closes they send the seller money.
You will get a deed and then you can book a vacation.
Expect 8-12 weeks before you can call disney for a vacation.

Sorry if this is dumb. But how do you get a realtor for this. Though timeshare store???

We bought 200 points for Boardwalk in 2010 from a private seller I just happen to notice on craigslist. It did take about 8 weeks. The longest part of it was finding a company to do the sale and file all the paperwork. We finally found a company called PCS Holdings (Closemytimeshare . com) in Orlando to handle the transaction. I believe I only paid $375 for the fees and title search and they handled everything.

Unfortunately we're now thinking of selling them after our trip in February:guilty:

The various DVC resellers have realtors on their staff to process the sale for you. Just google DVC resales and you should get a bunch of them.

The above link will give you an estimate on what prices are going for.

Also, before you buy understand the term "use year". I would spend the next few weeks understanding everything about DVC. Disboards is a great site for info.

Good Luck.
