It looks like the BB has pretty radically changed its menu since I have been there. I understand that the bread is gone...boo. Can someone who has eaten there recently share a review of some of these dishes? It looks like there is a vegetarian cauliflower dish? And a new chicken and kale dish? I'm just wondering what to expect when we arrive next month. ... and hoping that I am glad that I got up at 3:00 am to grab the resizes.
Thanks!

I was there the week of 12/26 for lunch. We had the citrus chicken, jambalaya and the asparagus appetizer. The chicken was fine - sorta dry but decent flavors. My husband liked his jambalaya but our fave overall was the asparagus appetizer. I think it was a special but if they have it, highly recommend! There was no bread service.
Overall, it was just ok. I used to think it was worth the mediocre food for the fun ambiance but I feel like even that has changed. Is it just me or is it brighter in there now?

We went over Thanksgiving weekend. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much and I really debated keeping the reservation as the last time I was there it was lackluster.

I am so glad I kept it. I was SHOCKED to say the least that that dinner beat out both Napa Rose and Carthay Circle. I KNOW!!! 😲 🤯 I KNOW!!! I still can't believe I am typing that, but it is true.

I ordered the jambalaya, dh had the chicken and kale, and dd had the filet mignon. All three were excellent. My jambalaya was full of flavor and not one protein was overcooked as it can easily be with jambalaya. Dh's chicken was moist and tender. He isn't even kale lover, but said it worked well with the dish and had zero complaints. We were lucky to get a bite of my DD's filet, lol. But the bite I had was by far and away better than the horrible cut of steak I had the day prior at Carthay Circle.

I hope you will be as happy as we were with our meals. We didn't get an appetizer as we had a late snack of beignets and knew we couldn't do a full meal.

The vegetarian dish isn't always on the menu. When we went just after Thanksgiving, there was no vegetarian option available. So just be prepared that the published menu can change.

I had the cauliflower dish when we were there in September. I’m not vegetarian, but it sounded good that day, kinda different flavors, so I ordered it. It was tasty, nice flavors, well prepared, but not amazing. Kind of par for the course, in our experience, for BB. It used to be more amazing (the short ribs, oohhhhhh yum, and does anybody remember the cookie boat?) but last few years has been just okay. DD19 had the chicken and thought it was good- compared to the chicken dish at Cafe Orleans, which she said was dry and overcooked. We always like to go for the ambiance, and are pleasantly surprised when the food is really yummy as opposed to reasonably okay. 😂

I ate lunch there today. (Jan 11) I didn't realize the menu had changed since the last time I looked at it in the app a few weeks ago. I planned on ordering the Citrus Chicken, but it was no longer on the menu. I ordered the Chicken and Kale Rice because no other entree appealed to me. I hate kale. I think it tastes like dirt. I was imagining large pieces of wilted kale that I could pick out of the rice. Well, it was very dark in there and I told my sister it was a good thing I couldn't see what I was eating (kale rice-wise) since it didn't look very appetizing. In the darkness it looked like dark green rice -- no pieces of kale I could take out. I wish I had taken a picture. But, I was pleasantly surprised by the taste. It was very good. I couldn't taste the kale at all. 😄 It came with lemon wedges, so I squeezed fresh lemon juice over both the chicken and rice. I would definitely order it again. My sister and SIL both ordered the Flat Iron Steak. My sister ate just 2 bites. She didn't care for it. She thought it was very dry and flavor-less. My SIL ate the entire steak and thought it was just OK. My 5 year old had spaghetti with the vegetable and fruit options as her sides. The vegetable side for the kids' meal was kale. The "market vegetable" with the steak entree was also kale. We were wondering what was up with all the kale and wondered how much they end up scraping off people's plates each day. My sister and SIL also ordered the Gumbo Fries as an appetizer. I tasted them and thought they were very good. They were really hot, just as fries should be, and it was a very large portion. I had a good lunch experience that I would repeat, my sister rated it her worst meal out of our 5 day trip.

My son (22) and I ate dinner there on Monday night and we both thought it was excellent. We snagged the reservation on Sunday night. I had the filet and it was really thick and it was cooked perfectly. It was one of the best steaks I've had in a while and I'm from Nebraska! The mashed potatoes were good but I didn't care for the kale vegetable. My son had the jambalaya and thought it was great. We had creme brulee for dessert. It was our first time eating there and we had a nice table by the water. It was an enjoyable experience for us.

I'm glad you had a good experience, but I agree with you - Kale is not food and I wish people would stop trying to insist that it is! 😉

I got the cauliflower dish when I was there in December. I really liked it. It wasn't blow you away amazing but it was very good. It had a little kick to it and felt like comfort food. Happiest Vegan on Earth has a great detailed review on it: Review of Cauliflower Dish.

My mom got the chicken with kale I'm pretty sure. She liked it well enough but I don't remember her thinking it was incredible.

My husband got the steak and lobster but I thought I've read recent reports that they are not including lobster at this time due to supply issues.

Like most, we go for the ambience more than the food.
