Just saw the promo for ABC's "Desperate Housewives" and it looks really interesting. Both Terry Hatcher and Lorraine Bracco (sp?) are staring.

The promos for "Joey" have been pretty funny, so I'm going to be really disappointed if it is terrible.

Has anyone else seen or read anything about new, promising shows? I'm starting to get a bit weary of reality TV, and I'm really hoping that there will be some new, fresh, smart comedies or dramas this year.

I'm looking forward to that show called "The Lost" or "Lost". I'm not sure what the name is exactly. But it kind of reminded me of that show "Land of the Lost". I used to love that as a kid. It's hard to tell from commercials what it's really is about. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Desperate Housewives looks like it has possibilities, and Lost has one of my favorite Hobbits in it (Dominic Monaghan), and looking forward to seeing how Gary Sinise is in CSI:NY, but mostly looking forward to another season of Arrested Development and waiting patiently for the beginning of the next season of 24...

Arrested Development is GREAT- I'm so glad it's coming back!

I'm also looking forward to new West Wing- I know it's not as good with the new writers, but it still has its good moments.

Anyone with more info about "Lost"- could be interesting...

Survivor:Vanuatu and the new John Goodman sit-com--the name escapes me at the moment.

Desperate Housewives and Lost better be good. ABC is promo'ing them ALOT!

Can't wait for Survivor and ER! And I hope they bring back The Days.

SO and I are really looking forward to Lost and Desperate Housewives, but we keep saying that with all of these great looking previews the shows will undoubtable stink, or all of the good stuff will have already been shown.

rcyannacci- Lost has the brother from Party of Five in it as well as many other possible actors you might have recognized from movies and shows (in other words it isn't all full of people no one has ever heard of). He (and a bunch of others, 48 people I think, including a pregnant woman) are on an airplane when some type of explosion happens and the plane seems to crash land on a "desserted" island. Only they come to find out it isn't so desserted...no clue as to what may be inhabitting it, but it has the survivors scared out of their wits and trying to run from it. Another twist is that for some reason the survivors know that any search effort will be difficult to find them (maybe they somehow know they are off course?). The series pilot episode airs Wed. Sept. 22 at 8pm and is 2 hours long with part 2 the following week.

Every year I say I'm not going to start watching a bunch of new shows and then I do anyway.

This year I want to see Hawaii, Medical Investigations, CSI: NY and Joey so far.

I'm also looking forward to The Mountain on the WB.

Sound a bit like Gilligan's Island meets the X-files- I'll definitely give it a shot.

I caught one episode of The Days- it has possibilities. The teenage boy has some talent, but the writing is a little...pushed. Sounds a bit Dawson's Creek-ish.

Can't do the CSI shows or ER- I get way to affected by graphic stuff. And, I'm a scaredy-cat.

Haven't heard of The Mountain...

OmG, GoodFairies!! Do I echo THAT!!

I've loved Neal M since Minority Report where I watched him OVER Tom Cruise AND Colin Ferrell, and I like them too!

I hope he plays a better role than in Boomtown where he played such a creep I couldn't enjoy him!!

Love my Neal!!

Lost mostly due to Dominic Monaghan being part of the cast

CSI: NY

Medical Investions

Desperate Housewives

I'll take anything that's not reality! Please bring back my family/college dramas! :) I actually even saw something of that sort that looked promising on *gasp* ABC!

As for returning shows, Joan of Arcadia and Seventh Heaven (:o) are the only ones I watch religiously and am looking forard to.

I was interested in CSI:NY (I really haven't watched the other CSI shows, but I love Gary Sinese), but I think it's on at the same time that Law & Order is on, and that's one of my all time favorite shows. I hate when they do that! Joey looks OK, but he was my least favorite "Friend" so I'm not sure how much I'll watch. I'm really looking forward to the return of a few shows--West Wing most of all. I've got to know what happens to Donna!

Thumbs down on all reality shows - except "Last Comic Standing" (and I don't even like that one when it takes place in "the house.") I'm looking forward to the CBS comedies.

I think reality is here to stay, at least for a while. I don't think it is necessarily a bad thing, as long as they aren't being developed in lieu of new comedies or dramas. It's definitely opened up a whole new industry in entertainment, and I see some interesting things happening lately, almost as though reality has allowed some really smart, alternative types of drama/comedy shows to develop because people are looking for something different. Obviously, cable has helped this along considerably as well. But I'm encouraged by the success of shows like Arrested Development. Or even something like the OC (flame me if you must)- it's definitely a teen soap opera, but there is a quality in terms of production value that I haven't seen on other shows for the teen demographic. And, I think that's why they've found so much success and an audience beyond teens.
