Looking for your hidden gem at a Disney Resort? Could be a quick service or dinner? Disney at times can be kind of generic. Any meal you just have to have when you go?

I haven't had it since the fall and I just went to the Fairfax Fare menu and it doesn't seem to be listed anymore.... but, in the event you are at HS and Fairfax Fare has this hot dog on the menu, it is my favorite! It is mac & cheese, bacon and truffle oil on a hot dog! I really enjoy it and get it whenever I have lunch at HS (which hasn't been since the fall). I will be sad if its gone!

Favorite Character B'fast - Cape May at the Beach Club
Favorite Dinner at resort - Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge
Favorite Dinner in park - Biergarten in Epcot
Favorite Special Occasion - Grand Tea at Grand Floridian

There are a lot of places we like, it's hard to pick a favorite.

As far as hidden gems go, places people might not find because they are at the resorts, I'd have to say Sanaa - uniqueness, Crew's Cup - cozy with good food, Beaches and Cream - unique theme, good food, and Trail's End - off the beaten path, good food, probably Olivia's as well, good food and service.

For favorite places that I crave certain foods:
Via Napoli - pizza
Tokyo Dining - tempura
Nine Dragons - Honey Sesame Chicken, potstickers
Hoop Dee Doo - Strawberry Shortcake
Norway - Strawberry Rice Cream, School Bread
Mama Melrose's - Chicken parm
Whispering Canyon - skillet dinner

One that I enjoy that doesn't get talked about much is Grand Floridian Cafe. The shrimp and grits and the burger with lobster are both really good there. Plus it's usually easy to get a table there. I think it gets forgotten amongst all the other restaurants at the Grand Flo.

My new favorite hidden gem is Crew's Cup at the Yacht Club. It's just a lounge, not on DDP, but the ambiance is super relaxed and the food is really really good. The truffle fries are to die for.

My favorite "not so busy" restaurants are:

The Wave
Captain's Grille
Tangierine Cafe

Since you are asking for resort restaurants, I would have to pick Olivia's (not wild at all but they have nice "Florida" style food - Key Lime Hollandaise, Conch fritters - and the location is beautiful.

Also Kona Cafe is great (Polynesian) for breakfast - macadamia pancakes, Tonga Toast, pressed pot of coffee.

San Angel Inn and 50s PTC are are must do eats every trip, for the atmosphere and the food in equal parts. We used to feel this way about Ohana dinner, but that changed along the way. Dont get me wrong, we still like it but the price makes us feel the need to indulge. But that used to be our 1st night meal for a long time, always making us feel we had arrived!

We have a lot of others we like too that depending on how long the trip is we try to fit in. I know you were asking about hidden gems, not sure any of mine are hidden or not but will share these all the same...

As far as resorts go, these are among our faves...
The Wave to a certain degree is a hidden gem. We love the breakfast buffet and the lunch there.
Trails End breakfast. This place is a bit off the beaten path, so it makes it hidden a bit::yes::
Kona all meals. Lots of folks know about this place, so not really hidden
Grand Floridian Cafe is worth the trip just for the lobster burger alone!
Olivias Cafe all meals. Its a bit removed from the parks so it makes it a little tougher to get too, but worth it. Very seldom is it crowded, so makes it easy to get a ADR last minute, or chance a walk up
Maya Grill at Coronado Springs is another under the radar place. It had a lot of mixed reviews in the past, so we stayed away, but so glad we finally tried it ourselves. A cool thing, a guitarist plays usually starts around 6pm.

Sanaa at AKL
Captain's Grille at YC
WCC at WL
Ohana at Poly (Definitely not a hidden gem) but great!

We stay at POR every trip and we get the create your own pasta one night. It's yummy and feeds 2 people with one quick service.

Surf & Surf burger or Mongolian Fish entree from Landscape of Flavors at AoA.

Kimonos for sushi at The Swan which does not open until 5:30pm, no ADRs & no DDP; go before nightly karaoke if a more relaxing meal is desired

Lobster Roll from the Boardwalk Bakery

Kona for lunch & order off the apps menu (pot stickers & wings are good)

Capt Cooks for the Thai Coconut Meatballs (an unexpected favorite meal now, thanks to a recommendation by Pete from one of the 7in7s!)

The Wave is great. They have this burger at lunch that is just TDF, and a lobster sandwich that my teenager loves. Dinner is good, too. Service is usually good. We had two cakes at our meal last year, and the wait staff was wonderful. It's also a nice chance to see the Contemporary.

There are 3 great choices at AKL - Boma, Sanaa, Jiko (signature). The added bonus is getting to see the animals!
