Need suggestions for good unique foods and fun environment. My boys are 8 and 15, and when I asked for their restaurant selections for this year, those were the requests - light on character meals (although they still love those) and focusing on fun environments with foods they can't get at home. They are both adventurous eaters (we all are) and love the fun stuff (like at 50s PTC, Biergarten). I know it may be hard to get both at the same places but we will be there for 10 days and I'd like to get a good mix. We are on the plus dining plan, so 1 TS per day, but we may add one or 2 more TS meals OOP if it works out that we can't narrow it down. Also, I'm kind of cheap (lol) and it would have to be something really, really compelling to get me to do one that costs 2 credits. I've just never been able to convince myself that its worth it.

Teppan Edo - Japan in Epcot. This is a Hibachi style restaurant and they cook the food at the large grills right in front of you. Tasty Steak and Chicken and enertaining.

Coral Reef - Love to eat here for the seafood and to watch the aquarium especially when your table is right next to the tank.

Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge - If you get the right server, this can really be a fun experience. If you do go, don't let them seat you in the library because you will miss all the guest/cm interaction.

Another vote for Whispering Canyon Cafe:thumbsup2

Morocco has good food, an interesting atmosphere, and entertainment (belly dancer).

I can't think of many other places that would serve "food you can't get at home," but for fun atmosphere Sci Fi is always a good bet!

I will also agree about WCC.

Another I think is Ohana. That is very different from anything I have locally and the games can be very cool.

I was going to say Teppan Edo too....my boys LOVE it:lovestruc
O'Hana's is good too, and Boma's, and we really like Tutto Italia in Italy. We are also going to Sci-Fi (not my fav) but the boys like it, the 50's wasn't there thing....let me know what you decide!

Boma's definitely has unique foods to try and you can also check out the savannahs before or after your dinner.
Ohana's has a fun atmosphere.
Sci-fi for atmosphere and we only get burgers when we go there. Didn''t care much for the other entrees we've tried.

Thanks for the suggestions everybody. I think we'll definitely do Whispering Canyon this time. 50s PTC is a definite, as is Ohana (the boys love it). I'm not sure about Teppan Edo. I think they would like it but we go to the hibachi restaurant here at home pretty often so I don't know if it would be really different for them. They love the atmosphere at Sci-Fi and Biergarten so we'll definitely do those. We also like Boma. I'm thinking we may try Sanaa this time too.

Another vote for Ohana for "fun" factor.

We also love the Biergarten for "free" entertainment and good food.

Another vote for Restaurant Marrakesh in Morrocco. We enjoy the food, it is a beautiful restaurant and the Belly Dancer and band are great. It is different than anything we can get at home.

boma would be my vote, unique food and gorgeous atmosphere, plus it's great to walk around the lodge after dinner and check out the animals and beatiful resort, they have CM's everywhere just to explain anything you would like to know about the savanna's

Sanaa is a beautiful restaurant with an interesting menu. And it is 1 credit.
Coral Reef is a fun environment. Have fun!

I was going to suggest Teppan Edo as well, but since you say you do Japanese Hibachi at home, probably not so different from what you are used to.

I would second Restaraunt Marrakesh in Morocco, I'm thinkin' you boys will have a crush on the belly dancer by the end of the meal. :rotfl2:

I second Coral Reef and Sanna, and I'll throw in Kouzzina as a suggestion as well. The Mediterranean-style food is certainly unlike anything else in WDW and I think that the dinnertime atmosphere is quite lively and celebratory.

Along with all of the above, you might consider San Angel Inn. Often, the food can be somewhat disappointing, but it does go beyond the tex-mex that is commonly available. And the atmosphere is terrific, dining beneath the stars with a smoking volcano in the background while boats drift by, all in air-conditioned comfort. It would be one-of-a-kind if the Blue Bayou didn't exist (try that one if you ever go to Disneyland in California).
