Which TS restaurants (resorts and parks) would you recommend for our family?

We are a family (me, DH, DD6, DD2) who likes our food prepared simply. For example, we love our steak grilled and sprinkled w/ a little salt & pepper. Same for pork chops, etc... Hubby likes his potatoes baked or roasted (again a lil s&p). Also love grilled shrimp, lobster tails, and crab legs. No to mushrooms, and wine sauces.

We do love restauranst like Teppanaki, but sadly it will not be open during our visit. :sad2:

TIA!!!

P.S. I have read thru the menus, but I am just more confused!
P.P.S. We are on the DDP.

If you aren't into exotic, then my top choices would be the 50's prime Time Cafe. It's rather American food, but with a sense of humor. The fried chicken was excellent, the vegetarian options were limited(for us a downside). In a similar vein is Whispering Canyon. Basic American food, fun atmosphere.

For steak specifically...maybe Le Celier or the Yachtsman's Steakhouse.

Liberty Tree Tavern is American fare. At dinner though they serve roasted turkey and ham, not beef.

A number of the buffets have carved beef - like Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace. Those two in particular have pretty strictly Americna fare. They will also have a fwe things you might not be familiar with, but there are a number of typical American choices to choose from. All buffets have options for the kids, like chicken fingers, pasta so you're likely to find somethig you like there at least. It might not be high end fine steak dining, but nothing too exotic.

Typically, our family likes our dining experiences a little more exotic - like Boma (which actually has really good carved roast beef, but a number of more exotic options you might not be so into as well - like butternut squash soup). But one another place we really liked was Big River Grill. If you are into the brewbup atmosphere, you'll like it (handcrafted brews). If you sit outside, it's pretty kid friendly/appropriate.

HI! Having had the pleasure on eating at every restaurant on property I have a few I would recommend to you.

Concourse Steakhouse. Good steaks and pretty basic sides. On the monorail so if you want to eat after a MK day it is a good choice.

Yachtsman Steakhouse is very nice. Great steaks! We have never had a bad meal here! Down side is that it is a 2 point meal and if you are not staying at an Epcot resort you may need to find transportation over.

50' Prime Time is good. Food has been a little off lately but still fun.

Narcoossees has wonderful lobster and very nice steaks. If you time your reservation just right you can see Wishes. A ver relaxed atmosphere. 2 point meal.

Liberty Tree Tavern (character dinner) What's not to love about Thanksgiving fare?

Most of the buffetts are safe. We are not mass feeding kinda people so can't say much.

WCC has good ribs (IMO) WL is a lot of fun to walk around if you have never been over there.

That is all I can think of for now.

With the exception of the Boardwalk, frou-frou places and restaurants in China, Japan and France, I think I've eaten everywhere at WDW.

The only places where I couldn't find regular food that I liked were at the Brown Derby in DS and possibly Mexico. I like Mexican, so wasn't looking for plain food. :) I ordered off the kid menu at the Brown Derby. :)

Even at Restaurant Marrakesh (Epcot) they have Lemon Chicken. If you take the skin off, it's just chicken. Plain white rice with a piece of corn here, a pea there. Very basic.

They are very good about having something for the plain eater on the menu.

Love the replies! I should note that buffets work for us only if they have a carving station. Also my DH will not eat chicken.

Last time we ate a WCC and CRT we did not enjoy the food (esp CRT). Maybe we are just too picky! At home we enjoy the Cheesecake Factory, Wildfire Grill, etc...

Thank you for the suggestions and please keep em coming!!! :surfweb:

Can I get lobster at Narcoossees if I am on free dining?

:thumbsup2 Yes you can! Now keep in mind Narcoossees is a 2 point per person meal. They have a wonderful surf and turf with a lobster tail and a filet. :cloud9: We have eaten here too many times to count and we have never had a bad meal. Bad service yes, but never a bad meal.

Note that any restaurant that can, will prepare your food simply, i.e. not as described on the menu. For example, at Le Cellier, you can get absolutely plain steak - no sauce, no toppings, no nothing. Just ask.
Even 'Ohana - We went a few years ago, a fairly large group with one person who just wanted a plain steak. They made her one.
