Have discussed MK with boys 5,7 here is our list
Enchanted Tales
Peter Pan
Winnie the Pooh
Little Mermaid
Jungle Cruise
Pirates
Haunted Mansion
Buzz
Monsters
Philharmagic

fit in Dumbo / Tom Sawyer... 1 day staying offsite over spring break Mar 19th, is it possible without FP or do throwaway night.. Please help with a sane plan for those who have done it??

There is no reason to do it without FP. You will be able to book the day of in the park.

I would take a look at the cheat sheets for MK on easywdw.com

Consider trying to fit in Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain.

splash is closed now - March 21st.

as for the original question Peter Pan and Enchanted are probably the two on your list you most want a fp for.

If we are at RD and do Enchanted 1st and PP 2nd?
Otherwise I will book FP in the park that day?
Should I skip the throwaway night onsite as we have rented a home offsite?
Thank so much for your help

rope drop or not, use your fp+ selections.

If you rope drop, and use your 3 fp+, pick which rides you like the best and do them twice.

If I were to rope drop, and that was my list, I would head as fast as possible to Enchanted and Peter Pan's flight, do those. then go see what fp+ times are available and go from there. Pirate would not be a fp+ of mine, and I would probably do it last as I work my way to the exit.

Here is what I would do. Be at rope drop approx. 30 mins before park opening. After watching the opening show, I would do this order.

Ride Peter Pan
Ride Winnie the Pooh
Now book your FP+ at Fantasyland:
Storybook Circus in the very back
tent near Pete’s Silly Sideshow - book Enchanted Tales (late afternoon), Buzz(early eve) and either the Electrical parade or Thunder Mountain.

Ride Dumbo- if one of you do not mind missing Dumbo, let one parent ride Dumbo with the 2 kids while the other takes all 4 park tickets to book FP.
Ride Under the Sea- Journey of the Little Mermaid.
Ride Haunted Mansion
Ride Jungle Cruise

Lunch at Columbia House

Ride Pirates of the Carribean
If time allows- check out Tom Sawyer Island or take a rest in A/C and go to the Hall of Presidents (this is what I would do so that the heat and walking does not zap everyone's energy)

Now head back to Fantasyland.
Depending on when your Enchanted Tales FP is, take in Philharmagic before or after it.
See what the wait is for It's a small World

Ride Buzz with FP
Monster's Inc before or after Buzz depending on time of FP.

Fatigue and heat will be your biggest enemies. I tried arranging indoor, A/C breaks to minimize this. Your longest line potential is at Jungle cruise but it shouldn't be too bad- maybe 20 mins. The nighttime parade is awesome and if you can make it I would either use FP or find a seat near the Hall of Presidents approx 30mins before it starts.

Good luck!

Also, when you ride Dumbo, tell the kids you will try and come back to play in the tent later. Right now should just be for riding.

Philharmagic and Monster's are large capacity show that rarely have a wait beyond when the next show starts.

Wow, thanks for this!!! Looks like a good plan, I do have a room only reservation right now and magic bands will be in hand. Does this also cover our parking in MK lot?. I'm thinking I may just keep it so I can prebook FP+ and not have to deal with the headache. Sometimes a little $$ is worth the less stress????

If you have a room only reservation then you should be able to make FP selections now. Also, parking is free for resort guests.

I would make Enchanted Tales with Belle for around 3 pm and Buzz around 4:30 or so. That would leave one that could be for Jungle cruise around 10:30 or 11am or Thunder Mountain- both on the same side of the park.

Will you sleep in the room? Not sure it is necessary to have the room just to get Magic Bands and prebook FP but that is up to you.

We wont be using the room :( we are traveling with a much larger group and have rented a house, just the 4 of us are visiting MK on that day.

Keep the room for now. Make your FP+ selections now and decide when it gets closer.

Right now, people are reporting no problem getting the same day FP's they want but it is low crowds. Wait and see what people's experiences are in the busy dates in March and then decide if you will need the room. You can cancel up to 5 days before w/o penalty.

If you do keep the room you could use it as a day room to take a mid day break and go fo a swim or air conditioned nap. Just bring a day bag with swim suits. It might make it easier to get the kids to make it until the night time entertainment.

I would make the FP for Enchanted Tales for 1:30-2:30 and then plan on going to the hotel. Have a counter service dinner at the hotel and return to the park around 6pm all refreshed. Make a FP for Buzz around 6:30pm and maybe the Tomorrowland Speedway around 7:30pm- your kids will love that. See Monster's show and find a seat for the parade.

That is why these boards are so awesome... really helpful people who love The World.... and are a positive influence on newbies. I have been to WDW a few times, but would not consider myself knowledgeable enough to give these kinds of tips. But I would definitely consider getting this kind of information priceless~ it could mean the difference between a good trip and a really great one!

Thanks for all of you out there who help with this kind of stuff... I love reading and planning (even though I do not have a trip planned)... and I will come here someday to plan our next trip with FP+ since it will be so different from before.

So far the best advice for us would be to do RD and get the FP+s for the evening.

Thanks again to all of you who keep the magic sparkling!

Awe thanks! :upsidedow I think it is fun to use my knowledge to help others. My kids were exactly the ages of the OP when we took our 1st family trip. The pressure to plan 1 "perfect" day must be overwhelming. My best advice is to remember that a touring plan is kind of like a birthing plan- just a plan. Be prepared for hiccups and take time to take it all in and enjoy the moment. :)
