Making a change to our ADRs for January. My husband and I will be visiting Disney with our now 15 month old son (will be almost 19 months for our trip).

I am looking for any recent thoughts (those who have dined within the past 12 months) on Olivias Cafe at OKW and Boatwrights at Port Orleans. Mostly quality for the price, level of service, etc. Would also love any thoughts on these 2 resorts from a visitor's perspective as we are staying at Pop and have never visited either.

Thanks so much!

I've eaten breakfast at Boatwrights many times - its one of my favorites. They have a delicious banana-stuffed french toast as well as really good sweet potato pancakes. Service has always been good and the prices are reasonable (entrees at breakfast are under $10). Its certainly not fancy - its kind of an open-air type restaurant that is near the food court. Never eaten here for dinner - so can't help you there.

You said exactly what I was going to say! I agree with everything.
I love POR!! as of now it is our favorite MOD resort.

We ate at Boatwright's for dinner a year ago September (sorry...I'm a little over the 12 month frame). It was the worse meal of our trip and only one of two Disney restaurants we will not go back to. We were seated 40 minutes after our ADR (yet walk-ins were seated before us), service was non-existent and the food was mediocre at best. On top of it, it was so loud in there (worse than Chef Mickey's) that you couldn't even hear your dinner companion speak. That being said, we are going next year for breakfast because my husband wants to try their sweet potato pancakes.

We recently had breakfast and lunch at Olivia's. The food was good, nice atmosphere and great service. Their conch chowder is delicious. DH really missed the fried chicken. I don't fry chicken at home, so he was looking forward to it, but it is gone from the menu.

I ate at Olivia's December 2007. I remember it as being a little small, well lit and a tad loud, but I enjoyed it a lot. I thought the food was wonderful!

I ate at Boatwright's May 2008. It was more quiet and not as brightly lit. We went for an early dinner without reservations and we were seated right away. Service was good and the food was yummy.

BTW, when I was at the World last month, I was told by Disney Dining that none of the Disney restaurants accept walk-ins at all anymore.

They often have the fried chicken as "member special" in the evening. We loved Olivia's. We stayed at OKW and found that often it was too much triuble going anywhere else. Olivia's potatoes and their Key Lime Tart are must tries.

We ate at Olivias on September 30th, 2008 for Lunch.

We jumped on the boat from the Marketplace. A nice ride over and while we were there it felt like a little escape.

I found it to be a kinda hidden gem... it was very personal and excellent service, not just from our server, but everyone. It was not real busy and the food was good and the portion sizes were good too!

As far as value, I think that the prices are one of the more reasonable places on Disney property.

The PodCast team had a dinner a review at Boatrights not too long ago, which you can find in the PodCast archives. They didn't care for it. The menu was very limited, and the quality was not good.

I have been curious about Olivias. The menu looks good. If you go, please come back with a review!

We ate at Boatrights in March 08 and it was awful. We would never eat there again. We had a 15 month old, 4, and 5 year old at the time. The restaurant was pretty dead when we were there and the service was terrible. We waited forever for our meal and our drinks set empty most of the time. I usually keep a bag of goodies (crayons, coloring pages, Hot Wheel Cars, etc) in my purse to keep them busy between when we sit down and our food is delivered to make ours and everyone elses dining experience more pleasant ;) We exhausted all of the goodies before the food was delivered. The food wasn't anything to get excited about. Perhaps Breakfast would be a better choose, but I wouldn't make the trip from Pop Century to eat here for dinner.

we eat at Olivia's every year for lunch. We always enjoy it, but it's simple fare we get, sandwiches, soup, etc

Thank you all so much for your thoughts!!! Olivias definitely seems to be the more popular of the 2. I had it on my target list before making dinner res. but wound up doing 3 in Epcot, so it fell by the wayside. But it does appear to be a 'hidden gem' and its definitely a possibility.

Would love to hear more info on Olivias & Old Key West in particular. (ie. we are eating at Boma earlier in the week and I am excited to see the Lodge with my family and the animals on the Savannah). Are there any terrific things to notice about OKW? I think I saw there was a walking path. Any other recs?

Thanks!

We visited Boatwrights for breakfast with my MIL & FIL Sept. '08. They seemed to enjoy their meal....me and DH not so much. We had an ADR for 8:30am and the restaurant was basically empty.

DH said his eggs were watery and potatoes were old tasting. I had the fruit plate, which did not seem fresh at all, but then again I had an awesome fruit plate at Kona....no comparison!!

BTW...a few years ago...I had the sweet potato pancakes....they were very very good....then!
