I'm so excited about these shirts!!!
I found another thread about them earlier, and found this thread today when I was searching for more pics for color ideas. I started with a test one - for my DS1 (smallest shirt!). I put on washable school glue, using the pattern someone posted on that other thread. Then I got nervous when the glue seeped into the shirt as it dried. So I did another layer of regular glue-all over the top. Unfortunately that layer spread out and looked awful (the first washable school glue layer didn't spread out, just seeped into the shirt - I was expecting it to stay puffy like when you put glue on paper). I washed the shirt and most of the glue came out, but I had to do a little scrubbing and rewash to get most of the rest out.
I did the painting just now (while DS1 is napping), and I'm dying to know how it turned out!! I don't think I can wait 3 whole days!! I used Tulip spray paints (a neon "party pack" of 9 colors), and I was a bit surprised that they sprayed out in a circular (almost fireworks like) pattern (though that was mentioned by someone here as well). Glad I did a test spray on a paper towel as was suggested.
If I can figure out how, I will post a picture once I wash out the glue.
I usually make custom iron-on designs for 1 set of matching shirts for our trip, and some extra ones as well, but this sounded really neat! And as putzy as it is, I think it is less time-consuming overall than the designing, printing, & ironing of t-shirt transfers. I'll probably still make a custom transfer type shirt for each of my DS's. But this will be our matching whole-family shirt set - using "safety green" (kind of a neon yellow color) shirts from Michael's. I'm still trying to decide if I should put anything on the shirt backs or not. I'm going to have the boys help make the shirts over Thanksgiving break next week, and we'll give them to Gma and Gpa for Christmas!
