It was a progressive savings plan, where you put increasing amounts away each week, and ended up with like $1500.

It was all over the internet a while back, and now I can't find it. Help!! TIA!

The most common plan is to start with $1 first week- and each successive week you add another dollar to previous total.

week one-$1
week two- $2
week three-$3

by the end of 52 weeks you should have saved $1378.

good luck

I just made up my own 'calender' on an Excel spreadsheet, but I started mine from $52 for week 1, down to $1 for week 52. I'm actually not saving in the order on the sheet, but just putting into an envelope, whatever spare cash I have and marking off the appropriate $ box on my chart. For example, on Friday, I put in $14, but marked off the boxes for $3,$4 & $7 weeks. This way I should have it paid off well before the end of the year. I'm planning on using it for Christmas $, so want to have the money accumulated by October, when I usually get serious about shopping.

I think it would be so much easier to just divide the total and save $26.50 a week for the year. The later weeks, which would be right at the holidays, you would be saving the largest amounts each week.

This makes more sense to me, especially if you're goal is to train yourself to be a saver. Saving random amounts over the course of the year might net you the same amount in the bank but it doesn't help you to alter your spending habits. I'll stick with my $25/week program for now and I'll increase it in a few years when the kids are all out of college.

But to answer the OP, if you do a google search for "52-week saving challenge", you will find a number of images and .pdf files that can be used.

This is true but not as much fun. We have regular transfers made to our savings account but set up a cash envelope for the 52 weeks. Plus the kids like counting money :) just a fun little side savings.

See, this is why I come to this board. You people are smart! :thumbsup2

Your welcome...:)

You can Google "52-week Money Saving Challenge" and you'll get lots of images like the one above that you can print out. That's what I did so every week I can cross off the amount I've saved. I like having a visual.
