This will be our first year having a Thanksgiving "feast" while camping.

Looking for camping friendly recipes you all may want to share.

Hi--

Do you bring a crock pot/slow cooker with you when you camp?

If so, I have a recipe for mashed potatoes that will make your brains fall out (in the good way!!!:lmao:) Let me know if you want me to post it!

Post it please.:)

Here it is:

5 pounds red potatoes
3 cubes chicken bouillon
1 Tablespoon minced garlic
8 ounces sour cream
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter
salt and pepper

Cut the potatoes into chunks. Put on a large pot of water and bring to a boil. Lightly salt the water. Throw in the potatoes, the garlic and the bouillon cubes. Cook until the potatoes are tender, about 15 minutes, depending on the size chunks. Drain, save the water. In a large bowl mash the potatoes with the sour cream and the cream cheese. adding some of the saved water until it is the consistency you like, keeping in mind you are still going to add the butter later. Transfer it all into your slow cooker, cover, and cook on low for 2-3 hours. Just before serving stir in the butter and salt and paper to taste!!

Enjoy!

I have a 18 qt roaster I can let you use for your turkey if you want it. Also have a 6 qt one. Just let me know and I will bring it, we are smoking a turkey so I won't need them. I think this time we are smoking it at home and bringing the cooked meat, unlike halloween when we brought the smoker and made 2 large turkeys.

Traditional Turkey Sammich

Ingredients
1/2 cup cream cheese/mayonnaise
4 teaspoons brown mustard
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/4 cup chopped walnuts, if desired
1/ tsp ground cinnamon
8 slices Whole Wheat Bread, toasted, if desired
4 leaves curly leaf lettuce
3/4 pound thinly sliced Turkey Breast
1 large apple, cored,cut in 8 rings

Method of Preparation
For Cheese Spread: In small bowl, mix together cream cheese, mustard, dried cranberries, walnuts and cinnamon.
For sandwiches: Spread each slice of bread with cream cheese spread. Top 4 slices with lettuce leaves, turkey and apple rings. Complete sandwich with remaining bread.

If you have a cast iron Dutch oven, there are bazillions of recipes that would be great for Thanksgiving. I'll grab a couple of my favorite links and post them.

just let me know if you want it and which size you want, I will throw it in the motorhome (I don't keep it in there, but it's no problem to throw it in, just realized it's still in my car from Halloween), you have my email address, if you don't I will send it to you.
