After much prodding from doctors and family, I have started a new workout routine. To try and get my body used to moving, I am starting slow - mainly walking on treadmills at the gym.

Yesterday, I tried something new. As an AP holder, I thought "why not get my walk in at the Happiest Place on Earth?"

So, that is what I did. I did a complete circuit of the outer perimeter of the inside of Disneyland Park. Basically, I did a "wide right" as far as a guest can go, around the park. This included all of the alleyways and walkways to ride entrance/exits.

This took me just about 70 minutes and according to my pedometer, about 6500 steps.

What I would like to know is this: Does anyone know of specific walking maps that have been created (based upon the parks of DLR) that have stated distances? For example, if I wanted to walk 2 miles, the map might take me down Main Street, through Tomorrowland, back to the Hub, through the Castle and all the way through to Toon Town, then back through the Castle and down to the Main Street Train Station (this is just an example and I have no idea how long a walk that actually is).

Do maps like this exist?

If so, could someone point me in the proper direction?

Many thanks!

You should sign up for mapmyrun.com. I know that I have figured out where I've walked around Disneyland and then mapped out my route afterwards. Not sure that I make my routes public, but I bet there are people who do.

And you can click around and create your route on there (be sure to click "off" the button that wants you to stick to the roads).

Good for you for getting out there! Best start saving up now, once the rundisney events (which are totally open to walkers and run/walkers) start tempting you!!!

I second Bumbershoot's suggestion, except I recommend MapMyWalk. The apps are almost identical, I'm 99% sure, but MapMyWalk uses "Walk" in place of "Run" AND (most importantly) has a purple theme! :rotfl:

I really like MapMyWalk. It can track your pace, elevation changes, etc... You have to have a SmartPhone with GPS, though. Don't use it as often anymore, though, after I got my FitBit. They do different, useful things, but I decided to just focus on one. I do use the MapMyWalk app, though, when I'm walking in an unfamiliar area. It keeps track of where I am and where I've been, so I can't get lost!!

HAVE FUN walking!!!! If you have a similar experience to me, you'll be amazed at how slowly, but surely, you become stronger & stronger!! So dang empowering!!

Thank you both for the suggestions.

I have installed MapMyWalk and I have used it around the neighborhood. I really like what I have seen so far.

I DO want to get to the park in the near future to map my routs around both parks.

If all goes well, I will be heading to DL tonight to get in a walk. If I do get to go, I will map out the walk and try to share the map here on the board, so that others might be able to see the details.

Well,

My trip to Disneyland didn't happen until Saturday, but as promised, here is a picture of the route that I took:

I started at the Main Gate and worked clockwise (in this view). The total time was just a hair over an hour (due to the crowds) and the total distance was 3.04 miles.

Thanks for reporting back. :thumbsup2

Others have mentioned that route was 3 miles, but I didn't realize how close to exact that was.
