Looking for some teaching advice

I am new to disdoards. When i saw the designers work, I was in awe!! i am the type of person who LOVES to be creative.. I have figured out how to do name fills. But where you do find all the different backgrounds, and how do you get the clipart to look like it's coming out - Does anyone else have any other teaching advice that they could share. ~thank you

A great site is www.fanpop.com. On the home page type in what you are searching for example "disney" and click on search. When the next page opens up click on "images only" below the word you originally typed in and then click on search fanpop. Then look through the "wallpapers" as they tend to be the largest images.

Another good place is always google. Once you open up google...make sure you click on the "images" tab and try different searches. Try looking for just plain "mickey" or "mickey wallpaper". Also so you aren't wasting time with small images...click on "show options" and under "any size" click on "large".

A good place to learn how to do things is www.youtube.com. They have GREAT video tutorials that will teach you how to do things. There are always five different ways to do everything, but I personally will copy the layer that you want to come out of the "name fill" so that there are two layers of the same thing. Then delete everything on the copied layer except for the part that you want coming out of the name fill, like the arm or leg. I don't know if I did a good job explaining that. Hope it helps.

I find most of my clipart on google too. You can learn how to do anything on You Tube

As for learning the program, my advice is to play, play, play! Go in and find out what each tool/menu does. If working with photoshop, Adobe has great on-line support/tutorials and forums. If you want to go deeper, you can get a book such as Photoshop for Dummies or Adobe classroom in a book. Have fun exploring
