Hi Everyone, I'm looking for some London travel advice, if you would be so kind. The New England Patriots will be coming to England to play an American Football game at Wembley in October. It's also DH and my 20th anniversary this year, so we're toying with the idea of a trip to see the Patriots.

DS and I were lucky enough to be in London and Manchester this past August with his soccer team, and we did get to see the Community Shield game at Wembley, so I did get a little bit familiar, but not much. While we were in London we stayed at a Holiday Inn in Kensington, that was pretty close to a Tube station. I loved the neighborhood we were in, and would consider staying there again. I'm wondering if we'd be better off in another part of the city for sightseeing, etc, or out more towards Wembley (although there did not seem to be much in that area).

From my VERY limited experience the Underground seemed very easy to manage and navigate, so as long as we are in an OK area, with access, we should be OK, yes?

No I wouldn't stay near Wembley.

Sightseeing places are pretty spread out so Kensington is a good as anywhere to stay.

Thanks! When we came into Wembley, it did not look like it would be a great area to stay.

Hopefully we can pull this off, I really loved the trip DS and I took, and would love to see more of your lovely country!

I second what Chilly said...Wembley is not a good place to stay as a base..I would stick to Knightsbridge or Kensington area, far nicer. :thumbsup2 Yes the tube is very easy to navigate and you can alway hop onto a bus as well for some sightseeing. You will also be near to a few main line stations so it's also easy to venture out to Windsor etc..I love London and often go into town as there is so much going on. We are off to the David Hockney art exhibition in a few weeks..can't wait.
Have a fabulous time when you do get here and happy anniversary in advance. Happy planning...

agree with other 2 posts - wembley is fine for an event but not to stay. Depending on what you fancy a few things to consider:

Baker Street: Metropolitan line tube takes you to wembley, about 15mins, Sherlock Holmes Park Plaza hotel is nice. About a 10min walk to oxford street from here if youancy shopping
Canary Wharf: Jubilee line takes you to wembley, about 50mins, London's financial district (think a very scaled down new york!)
Westminster: Country Hall hotel is gorgeous, again on Jubilee line, about 30mins from wembley
Park Lane: Walking distance to lots of central london, close to Green Park/Marble Arch tube. Near Buckingham Palace, Oxford Street, Picaddily Circus.

Good luck
