My girls have visited several times so I'm looking for some creative ideas to make things a little more exciting for them. It will be a girls only trip for MK and HS. Hubby joins us part of the day at AK and EP. So trying to make things a little special.

My initial thought is to put a picture of all the golden statues for each park in a bag and have each of them blindly pick two. During the day if they find the golden statue they will get some sort of prize. Maybe $10 extra spending money.

Anyone else have any creative ideas?

These are probably your 11 y.o.’s, right?… so maybe building on your idea, create more of a scavenger hunt. If they are kinda naturally outgoing kids, you could even expand it to include something like “find someone from another country” or “meet someone from 3 different states”. Another thing they can do is try to spot as many different Mickey or Minnie ears as they can (if they have their own devices they can even snap pix of them).

Looking for hidden mickeys is super fun and interesting. There are guide books available on Amazon, a few good online resources (one has a checklist you can use on your device) or you can just keep your eyes open to look for them all on your own. (Although, we’ve bought the “Hidden Mickeys of Disneyland” guide, and to be honest deciphering the descriptions of where to look is sometimes an activity in itself. :upsidedow ). I think it helps to at least know how many there are in the area, so you know if you’ve found them all. Even that’s not perfect… we’ve sometimes found more than what were listed in the guide, and when we asked a cm about the extra one(s), we were told that new ones are occasionally added when an area is painted or renovated.

Also, if you don’t know— there’s a games app that integrates with the parks apps (MDE or Disneyland) called playDisney. It has games that you can all play while waiting in line, basically passing the device from person to person, each taking a turn. There’s also trivia questions that could be read out loud for you to all guess the answers. (DH & I were even “playing” with another couple who happened to be ahead of us in line and heard us asking each other the questions, lol.) So that could be another way to break up any waits or periods of bored impatience.

Have a great trip. :thumbsup2
