Looking for Ride/Vehicle Capacity Info

This is a long shot -- and possibly an indicator of an overplanning mindset -- but I was wondering if anyone is aware of a website or other resource that might tell me vehicle/car capacity per ride. For the past several years, I've visited DLR with 2 young ones and my mother. So, 2x2 has typically worked for us on car/vehicle rides. This year, DH is joining for the first time, and I'm trying to figure out how many times we'll have a "5th wheel."

Of course, this may be hard to define as people come in all shapes and sizes!* Still, if anyone can steer me in a helpful direction, I'd appreciate it!!

*For the record, we are fairly average sized, with kids 6 & 8.

I don't know of any specific sources, but I do know from experience which rides don't have 2x2 seating:

DL:

Astro-Orbiters: single seating, or a parent can sit with a child I think
Thunder Mountain: Basically 2x2 except we can fit me and my younger brother and sister comfortably in one row and if you don't mind being a little squished, you can usually fit three to a row.
Grizzly River Run: you're all in a circle
Haunted Mansion: we can usually fit three to a car
Indiana Jones Adventure: there are four to a row, with three rows
It's a small world: you can fit several to a row, they're like benches
Jungle Cruise: you're kind of in long rows on benches
Little Mermaid: same as HM
Luigi's Flying Tires: you can fit three to a tire I'm pretty sure
Matterhorn: you're single file, with three to a bobsled, with three bobsleds per train
Mickey's Fun Wheel: five will easily fit
Pirates of the Caribbean: same as small world
Radiator Springs Racers: three to a row, two rows per car
Soarin' Over California: you're all in one long row
Splash Mountain: single file, six seats per log
Star Tours: there's like ten seats per row I think, I don't know the specific number, with four rows, so no problem there.
Tower of Terror: eight seats per row, three rows, but they're split by an aisle in the middle, so four and four except for the back row I'm pretty sure... If that makes sense... :P

As far as I know all the rest of them are 2 and 2. I don't know if that's what you were looking for but hopefully it makes sense and helps a bit!

Hey ColdNeverBotheredMe... This is EXACTLY what I was looking for!! :yay:I can't believe you just had this info right at your fingertips! I was imagining a solid block of time to figure all of this out. :yay: (Yes, I'm excited to have this info!)

I love the DIS!!! :dance3:

:thanks: Thanks so much again!! (And, I love cinnamon on cocoa, too!).

Lugi's is definitely 3 to a tire...we just rode it last week.

Mater's would be two or three to a car if you have little ones.

If there are other rides you are interested, you can do a Google Image search and see pictures of folks on the rides and get an idea of how many can fit.

Thanks for the suggestion, Cindi! I want to avoid lone riders as much as possible...

You can also do 3 to a ride vehicle on many of the Fantasyland rides (ie Peter Pan, Dumbo, Pinnochio).

I'm really happy to hear this, as I don't want my Disney partner in crime (my mom) to be alone, nor do I want my DH (on his first ever Disney trip) sitting by himself. Both of them can roll with it, but I want them to enjoy the rides with the kids. I'm guessing that in any 5th wheel situations, I'll be the 5th wheel (which I'm totally fine with, but I know my kids will want to sit with me...).

I really appreciate your response!

As fellow over-planners and party of 5, we like this website that shows all the ride vehicles in both parks.

Thanks for this very helpful link, Cal-Pie! Glad to know I'm not alone in planning down to the minutiae! Looks like we can squeeze into many rides together and we'll just take turns being odd person out on the others (like Autopia, it looks like).

We are a family of 5 and there are only a few rides where we have to have someone ride alone. TSMM is one, Buzz is another. Also, Space Mountain, CS and Gadgets. I can't think of any off others off the top of my head, but I know there are a few more. It seems like most rides you can squeeze 3 in a row. Having your kids ride with one adult and putting 2 adults together will help a lot.

We have one that is too short and another that doesn't do coasters so we can do most of the rides together and then Dh and I take turns with the brave child on the "thrill" rides.

You can fit three to a row on Buzz and TSMM if you configure it right: two adults, one child in the middle or two kids, one adult in the middle. We do it all the time. The only caveat is there are only two "guns" to aim at the targets. On Buzz there's a knob to turn the cart so someone usually does that while the others fire. On TSMM there are strings that need to be pulled on the "guns" so someone aims while the other pulls the string. As mom I usually give up my weapon to a little one, haha.

eta: Also on Splash you can ask to sit in the back of the log and fit an adult and child back there. This is what I do because I don't trust my kids not to freak right before the drop.

Yeah, giving up a gun isn't an option for our family. Dh and I are waay to competitive for that, haha! That only worked until our youngest hit about 2. I'll admit it, I would rather not ride then give up my gun. :rotfl:

I have a harder time giving it up on TSMM than I do Buzz but that's because we only get to TSMM once or twice in a trip and ride Buzz at least half a dozen times due to my son's obsession. Plus I can rock TSMM! :cool1:

3monkeys....Great! Thanks for sharing your experience and for taking some of the guesswork out of this process. :thumbsup2 Going from 4 to 5 is a bit of a process, but still sounds very workable (the hotel was a different story...)

My "short" one is also the brave one. Also, grandma's a bit of a "chicken," so she's happy to give up the seat on the "thrillier" rides...

Sounds like a good plan! Thanks!:thumbsup2

I hear you --- it's hard to just sit there and watch someone else have all the fun (even a ds or dd)! popcorn:: Definitely brings on the itchy trigger finger!

Hey, just saw this haha! You're totally welcome, happy to help!! ;) We're vets, and I happen to have a really good memory, so it wasn't super hard.
(yeah, my tag's actually a quote from the Aquabats Super Show if you've ever heard of it, but I do love cinnamon on cocoa! :goodvibes)
