I am in the market for a new camera and have already picked up the ELPH 300 for Christmas, however Amazon had the ELPH 500 for a lightening deal today and I was able to get it for $20 more of what I paid for the 300. Which is a better camera??? I am sooo confused... I haven't purchased a compact camera in many years, so any owners of these cameras want to chime in and tell me what
they think ?? Thanks!

I have the 300. I love it. It is currently $149 on amazon. I needed a point and shoot good in low light and had burst (takes 8 frames per push of the button) because my daughter is in gymnastics and my son is in hockey. It has hd video and you can also zoom when taping

It looks like the 500 has a touch screen rather than buttons. So if you prefer that it would be worth the money. For my needs I didn't need or want a touch screen. The 300 has a 5x optical for zoom and the 500 has a 4.4x zoom. I think the major diff is the touch screen. Or are you talking about the 510 for $278 on amazon with 12x optical (that would be a huge diff)?

Thanks for your feedback. I am talking about the 500. I did a little more research after my impulse buy and the 500 allows you to manually set the aperture and shutter, also has the touch screen and slightly shorter zoom
than the 300. Other than that I don't see much of a difference.

Sometimes a touch screen can be bad due to lower battery life. I am not sure in this case though...
