We have reservations at Chef Mickey's our first night. We have eaten there several times before. Looking at the menu, though, I have a couple of questions. 1) do they still have prime rib? The menu on allears says they have carved meats "like" rubbed beef. 2) do they still have peel and eat shrimp? It's not listed either.
Seems like silly questions...but we eat there for the atmosphere and the photo usually, not the food, and DH says he isn't as concerned with eating at our "traditional" places this time since our oldest is in college and can't travel with us. If we skip this we'll just hop on the monorail and go over to Kona.

When we were there in June they had the peel and eat shrimp and beef but not prime rib.

There are some pictures of the beef here if you wish to take a look at it on my blog.

Hope this helps. :)

we used to always go to Chef Mickeys for a meal each trip and it got so bad we had to mark it off our list :scared1: the beef was so tough so not sure what it was suppose to be. We still like character meals even with out kids but Tusker House and Cape May (good peel and eat shrimp here ) and CP much better as well as Hollywood and Vine...all have characters for breakfast not so for dinner except for CP but hopping on the monorail and going to Konas is great idea as well that is a very good place for breakfast or dinner:dance3:

1) No, to prime rib - more of an average quality roast beef.
2) Yes, to peel-and-eat shrimp (but not deveined).

Our Ratings of Chef Mickey's: (rev 1/17/11)
. . . food price value: C
. . . food quality: C
. . . food quantity per serving: A
. . . food prep speed: B
. . . food selection: B
. . . seating quantity: C
. . . seating comfort: B
. . . eatery atmosphere: B
. . . eatery convenience: B
. . . staff friendliness: C
. . . staff attentiveness: C
. . . character interaction: B

NOTE: As with most character meals, you are paying
for the characters, and possibly atmosphere, but not the
food. Food is ample and tasty, but quality only average
or even slightly below. Unfortunately, we believe the food
quality has gone down hill significantly.
