One of my good friends is in the hospital in critical condition. She has Crohn's Disease and had surgery which developed into an infection. She is in ICU and in a medically induced coma. She had another surgery yesterday to clean up the open wounds which were closed. The next 48 hours are critical. Thanks.

Best of luck to your friend. I have a few close friends that suffer from Crohn's and it is such a terrible disease. Hope all turns out ok! :wizard: :grouphug:

Sending good thoughts and prayers your way.

She is showing slight improvement. Seems to understand when you speak by squeezing your hand and has opened her eyes for a few seconds at a time. Tomorrow they are going to try waking her up a bit and start weaning her off the respirator. Hopefully she will continue to improve.

Sending all my best! My sister has Crohns and has been hospitalised before, so I understand a bit about how scary it is for friends and family.

Tricia is still in ICU. She was running a temp yesterday and had some drainage they aren't sure where it's coming from. She's doing more breathing on her own but if she isn't off the respirator in a day or 2 she will need a trach for the respirator. Still need lots of prayers for her recovery.

Sending prayers and positive thoughts for you and your friend.

Thinking of you and your friend, we almost lost my grandfather to crohn's in 1982. In almost similar way. My grandpa is a very active 80 something. Hoping for a similar outcome for her.

Just an update - she is showing slight improvement. She had surgery for a bowel leak and the drainage is now clear (no infection). The pressure dressing has been changed and a feeding tube inserted. She is now getting nutrition and going about 3 hours at a time without morphine. Hopefully she will start waking up soon. Keep the prayers and positive thoughts coming. They are helping.

Thinking of you and your friend! Hope all continues to improve. :tinker:

An update with a little good news for a change. They are using the word "stabilizing" and she is opening her eyes some even though she is still heavily sedated. Thanks for all the prayers and pixie dust. They are working.
