We just purchased an RV & are looking for places to go camping this summer. We are in TX & have been to many of our state parks but are interested in TN, KY, area. Would love to head to VA but may be too far to drive w/ 3 kids :rolleyes2

If you have any suggestions, please reply. We enjoy hiking, fishing, boating, etc.

Thanks,
Rebecca

The Mammouth Cave area in Kentucky and the Barren River areas are nice places to camp.

In TN your breaks will get a work out going to the Smokey Mountains-but very much worth it.

we love camping in the hot springs area of arkansas, several state and national park camp grounds in that area, ranging from the only diamond mine in america, to thermal springs, beautiful mountains, a nice amusement park and water park,

I know you didnt mentian Mi. But you could do a great lakes tour. We have some great state parks on the water in Mi!!!!!!

There are some very nice state parks in the mountains of NE Georgia.

Chattanooga, TN has a lot of kid friendly attractions:

The aquarium
lookout mountain (incline railroad, ruby falls, rock city)

Lake Winnie (old fashioned amusement park)

Pigeon Forge TN!! Home of Dollywood and MANY Go-cart tracks!!!! I second the Smoky Mountains also, Gaitlinburg, TN Knoxville Zoo was also awesome.
A little OT but when we travel we listen to books on tape. We rent them from cracker barrel and return the to any other cracker barrel when we are done. Uses the kids imagination, better that videos IMO. We have been camping for almost 15 years with our DS's, wouldn't trade those times and memories for anything!! Happy Camping!!

We live near Pigeon Forge and go there often. Of course we Love Disney World and went there in December but it is just too far away to visit often, so we go to Pigeon Forge quiet a bit. We go there so often in fact that I have started a Discussion Forum similar to this one but just for Dollywood, and the Pigeon Forge area. Let me know what you think of it. I am just getting started and do not have much on there yet but am hoping to grow if I can get more people to visit the site. If you have any questions about the Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Smoky Mountain area just feel free to ask.

P.S. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My DH used to camp near Kentucky Lake--says it's a nice area.
I second the trip around Lake Michigan--we did that several years ago and had a lovely time. The UP is beautiful--and smells so good. Plus there are Sleeping Bear Dunes, Mackinac Island (FUDGE!), Door County, shopping in Michigan City... Lots to see and do!
Happy RVing! :sunny:

Camping at Cades Cove has always been fun for my family (in the Smokies, close to Townsend, PF and gatlinburg)
Also many people love camping at Fall Creek Falls.
