I'm trying to plan a halloween party for my 13 yo kids. Any cool ideas on games, decorations, etc. I have a 1 yo also, but she seems to love scary decorations that make noise. (she doesn't however like th crawling hand we recently purchased. oops)

DH is very crafty and inventive, will be more than willing to help when it come time, but right now he is tied up with work.
I however, need simple instruction.

Right now we are thinking apprx. 12 kids plus possible 6-8 adults to help.

All suggestions welcome. Thanks. Feel free to PM also.

Maybe a luau. They could make their own leis, have a limbo contest, a hula hoop contest.

go to google and type in Halloween party ideas and a whole bunch of sites pop up

have a great time:D

Let them make a haunted house for the trick-or-treaters, not too scary, just some slimy stuff and a few boxes that look like coffins. Usually all of the kids have some creepy stuff for Halloween around their house too. With as many adults as you have to help, the kids can be kept under control and still have lots of fun! We did this when my nephew was 10 and he loved it. Plus, the kids in the neighborhood who came through it loved it too.

You could make a huge string web.

I worked at a YMCA a while ago. The summer camp, had a Horror week, and had a walk through haunted house.

It wasn't that scary, and it was in a room about the size of large kitchen/great room.

The had a guess what guts? The kids had them blindfolded and told the customers it was guts... adn to guess what kind? It really was cold cooked spaghetti.

They also had another one where jello was involved

They also a water torture chamber. They filled a large cooler with ice, and let it melt somewhat. On the bottom of the cooler was cans of sodas/juice boxes. To get the drink they had to put their arm all the way down to the bottom. It was really really cold, and some kids couldn't do it.

Check out birthdaypartyideas.com . They have a TON of great info. there!! Have fun planning! :D

Depending on your backyard, you can have a haunted hay maze.

Use some hay and make a path (break up the bales if you wish).

You can have them tour the path at dark, and have some people dressed up and pop out!

halloween party = fun !!!!

if you make a big bowl of punch, make it red and have "body parts" floating in it. Fill plastic gloves with water and freeze to make fingers or whole hands. They also have those fake eye icecubes.

One of the best kids' halloween party I ever saw revolved around trick or treating - the family had a big party in their garage after trick or treating. The kids were so excited - they were outside on a spooky night in their costumes! The dad told ghost stories in the back yard and the mom did sound effects from behind the bushes! Parents were invited, so we all got to be part of it. They roasted hot dogs and marshmallows - it was great!

I think you could do the same thing after a Halloween parade if your town has one!

I just realized that I read that wrong - you said 13 year olds. Maybe they wouldn't be into trick or treating!:D Did you every hear of "John Brown's Body"? It's a game played int the dark with a poem about John Brown where you pass around stuff like spaghetti and tell the kids it's body parts! It was always a hit in our house!

THANKS to everyone so far. These are all great ideas. I love the gross stuff.
two of my kids are boys so the boy guests will out number the girl guests.
Please keep all the ideas coming. And I am going to try these websites tomorrow when my eyes are open. It's almost 1 a.m. at the moment.

Thanks again

:)
