Looking for opinions DVC before or after cruise

How far is Vero from the Port? We are considering doing a few days at Vero after our cruise in Oct. 2006. Right now we have BWV booked ( had to get my Standard view) but DH wants to do a few relaxing days at Vero rather than the rush of WDW.

We go before and after. We like to leave from the BCV--the nautical/beachy atmosphere gets us psyched! We return to the BWV to relax.

We always go to the port area the day before the cruise to give ourselves some extra time to get to the ship in case of bad weather. However, you're talking about a DVC vacation, and for that I would choose after. We booked a single night in VWL after our first Disney cruise last November and it just capped the cruise vacation off nicely. We even took a weekend DVC vacation after our Carnival cruise 2 years ago. We like it that way.
